So is the best way to cache your area still to set a tour of the area in GE or has someone come up with a automated script that will do it?

NMEA question

MotoDude,
After using the application with GE, I got to thinking. If you have the coordinates, the speed, and the heading information could you calculate the new coordinates say 1-2 seconds in advance? This would allow for navigation to be more accurate, even if the calculated location was off a bit, it would be closer to real time and still fall closer than the current delayed update.

Currently GE and NMEA are very cool, and have a wow factor for showing your system off, but practical application is limitted due to the delayed updates.

I am not a programer, so maybe I have over simplified this, just thought I would throw it out.

Rick

My area does not have complete aerial photo coverage in Google Earth. I was able to pinch a copy from my job of the entire area.....but it's in a .sid file??? Does anyone have any info on .sid's? Can I finagle it into anything to maybe overlay it on Google Earth?

This is awesome! I'm only 2 months behind . I'm definatly going to get an EVDO cell phone now.

I got another idea too... has this one been done already?

You could make a program like GPS Secure publish a live overlay/path of your car moving on the Google Earth map on your home PC (for log reviews as well as watching others drive your car).

I finally got this all working today, but it doesn't auto update GE. How do you make GE reload the KML file? Whenever I manually re-open the file, it moves the map to where I am, but it doesn't continually move while driving.

Look at the screenshot of post #1. The settings window has a refresh setting. Put it to automatically every second.
