Holux GR-213 Sirf starIII gets me 11 sats + partials on my desk. Might as well get the very best eh...

Do you already have a GPS unit now and just looking for an antenna? Or are you looking at which GPS unit to get?

If you don't have a usb GPS unit yet then get a simple gps unit w/ the sirstarIII chip and just hide it somewhere on the dash. If you just add a separate antenna and keep it inside the car you'll lose some signal because of coax losses (especially at those high frequencies).

I got 11 sat locked while GPSslim236 was in the trunk. It is an amazin unit.

i finally got my Holux GR-213 Sirf starIII and tried it in my car. the rikaline 6010 wouldn't lock on to anything because of the coating on the windshield. the holux picks up more sats inside the car than the rikaline did outside the car.

i love my holux GR-213!!

i haven't had a chance to fully test it yet since i have a company vehicle to ride during the week. but from sitting in the parking lot between buildings i was getting 2-3 sats with the rikaline outside the car. the holux sirfIII gets me 7 outside the car and 4 inside. i get the same number of sats on my dash as i do on my rear deck with 5% tint on all windows (except windshield). If i roll my windows down i usually get an extra sat or two. (i thought that was pretty funny).

one thing i noticed was that even though the holux will get a lock inside the car, it does loose the signal and drops me down to 0 for a few seconds. I'm guessing it's because of the low signal since it works great outside. i'll get a chance to road test it this weekend and see how it does inside while driving.
