Bluetooth GPS and MAPPOINT....?
ok so ive got a BT-77 bluetooth GPS device linked to computer by bluetooth
now im new to bluetooth but it seems to be conected... as I opened the bluetooth program, searched for devices and it found the GPS device, I then clicked on conect.. and it said it was conected on "com port 4"
ok so I opened up mappoint and told it that my GPS device was on com port 4 then asked it to track my position.... and that where it just sits there???
ive put the bluetooth device out my window to test it.... (my tomtom gps thing used to work there)
but nothing... it just wont pic anything up
is there anything I can download to see if the GPS device is actualy seeing satalites? mappoint seems to really tell me whats going on
I really dont know what to do next to try and get this sorted

In MapPoint, have you verified in Tools -> GPS that Track Position and Always Show Position are checked?
As for the GPS diagnostic software, this site has a freeware for that: link

Open hyperterminal on that port and see if you're receiving any nmea strings. Could be you're not receiving anything, in which case it's the gps itself or the bluetooth connection. If you are receiving strings, then maybe you're just not getting enough sats to make a fix. It could be the gps location (bad view of the sky) or you're just not waiting long enough for it to resolve the position.

How many satellites did it pick up? And, do you have a locked position?

installing that diag tool seems to have sorted it out now as its working in mappoint now...
think is this map point seems to be a bit pants and I cant work out how to use it
im used to Tomtom where you just woop in the post code of where you want to do and then a 3D map comes up and it navigates you there....
will this mappoint program do this? cos I cant make it do that?

Nope, it won't do that. However, there's an add-in for MapPoint which allows for voice assisted navigation, plotting for trails, etc. Visit this link for more info.
I tested AGPS for a while but was not very happy about it. I use iGuidance 2.1.3 now.

is iGuidance any good then?
even if it is I dont think it will work with road runner skin
roadrunner will apperently work with:
mappoint (this as a load of pants as we have just talked about)
mapmonkey (how many things do I have to install to get it to work?)
freedrive (this is free, Im guessing that its a load of pants if thats the case)
never the less im gonna have to see if I can work mapmonkey out and give free drive a go (you never know)
