Problem Installing Mapps (Iguidance)
I had iGuidance installed on my carPC for a month or so, and it worked fine. Then i decided to install a coupple more states maps. The map loader did not work and froze at "copy file 12 of 16".
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iGuidance and deleting and reinstalling the maps. I have tried selecting fewer states, and the same result it keeps generating map data but never finishes.
Any ideas as to what to do?
Thank you in advance

when you're installing maps, are you close to maxxing out the available free space on the destination drive?

no, i have a lot of left over space. I tried installing just rhode island(smallest) and it worked. But when i tried to do more states it didnt work. The map loader works on my laptop. Do you think it is possible to install iguidance on my carPC and then just copy over the maps folder from my laptop onto the carPC and have iguidance read them properly?

I didn't know that was possible, Kalt. Good information.
However, I'd be concerned about why the copying of the map data stalls out. That could be a symptom of a deeper problem, such as a HDD problem or some other hardware issue that could plague you later on down the road.

Try running Memtest86+ to see if it's bad memory.
http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
Just burn the ISO to a CD and boot to it. Let it run overnight.
Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)

For future reference, keep in mind that if your doing all maps it will stay at 12 of 16 for hours, just took me 2-3 hrs (wasnt paying attention) with an 800mhz computer before it asked for disk 2

Q: I'm trying to load the entire US map onto my laptop, but it seems to take forever. Is that normal?
A: That's because our map loader tries to stitch the regions on the fly, which allows PocketPC users to pick and choose the regions and store them on a small storage card. Also, since there are 2 CD’s for the map data (version v2.0.1 or earlier), unless we offer a DVD version, users on the border wouldn’t be able to route without changing CD’s. Please also note that selecting all of the states using map loader will be very slow on v1.0/v1.1/v2.0/v2.01, due to the tracing of each state border. Starting with v2.0.2 and above, you may use single click to "Select all states". Loading the entire N. Ame data of 2.3GB will take up to 45-80 minutes depends on the laptop.
