Getting no GPS signal IG w/Royaltek Sapphire
Hello all...I don't really post much as I normally find my anwsers by searching but this one I am having trouble with. Maybe its the words I used in my searches but I can't find anything.
I have Iguidance 2.1.3 with the Royaltek Sapphire GPS Mouse Receiver. It is hooked up now using usb. should i maybe try serial?
I installed the driver for the receiver like it says, then I installed IG. I have yet to ever get any type of signal. I have messed with the com ports and still nothing. I realize I am a noob to IG, and I under stand pc's, but Its driving me nuts. I got IG for Christmas and now 2 months later I still can't get it to work. Also, when I open IG up, It shows me being like 3 hrs south of where I really am.
The gps receiver I have on the dash, so It should have no problem getting signal.
My carpc is out of the car for now as I am building a amp/carpc rack. But I would love to see if this happened to someone else and how it was resolved!! So, I can hopefully get it fixed when I put the carpc back in, or before.
Thanks,
Matt

I have the Royaltek Sapphire. After you install the driver, you must go into the Device Manager under the Com ports and set the port for the Sapphire. I selected port 4, for example.
Then, in iGuidance, tell it that you are using an NMEA device on com port 4.

After you set or verify the com port.
You can open up Windows Hyperterminal and connect to the serial port and the GPS will start spitting out sentences if it's getting power.
Set hyperterminal to the com port and these settings and hit connect.

Cool, glad to hear.
If you are using via USB and have resume problems with it using iGuidance, (iGuidance prompts that no GPS is connected and you have to click OK) you might want to check xPort3 by Curiosity. It splits the com port into multiple virtual ports and enables you to run iGuidance with other GPS apps and helps with hibernation/resume.

Ok, I got the program from curosity. I installed it and I see that the NMEA is throwing out sentences but I have never gotten a satellite. Its always at 0/12. I thought I had it figured out, but I guess it was false, but I did get it to show that I was on my street and not a street 4 hrs from here!
