Trimble SVeeSix-CM3 Mystery

I finally obtained some of these modules. Problem is, most of them out there only output two NMEA sentences, GGA and VTG, when configured to output NMEA instead of TSIP or TAIP. The extra NMEA sentences were a "factory option". The issue here is that these units are discontinued and Trimble wants nothing to to with them. Either Trimble configured the extra sentences to be outputted in the serial EEPROM or it was a firmware issue. The programs used to change the SEEPROM configuration just change the output format, and when changed to NMEA it only outputs the two sentences. Does anyone out there know how to "hack" the SVeeSix-CM3 to output all NMEA sentences?

Secondly, the antenna. The SVeeSix-CM3 won't work with a lot of active GPS antennas. Upon power up, it does an inrush current test and if it's not within the limit that the SVeeSix-CM3 wants then it reports an antenna feedline fault and doesn't use the antenna. The Trimble antenna works, of course, but most don't. I purchased an active antenna from Lynx and it worked perfectly with my Lassen SK2 and Ace III, but not the SVeeSix-CM3. What can one do in this situation short of using Trimble's antenna?

These units were being sold at BG micro for a while until the stock ran out. They were "automotive surplus" and from what I gather, they were from a company called Geotek which went out of business in 1998.

I know these are pretty much Trimble tech support questions, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with the SVeeSix-CM3.

Thanks.

Jonathan
