You need to be a little more specific about what exactly you're using (software-wise), how your stuff is setup and how you're using it. In short, it's possible.

Google earth won't do the real-time tracking by itself.
I think you may be looking for something like this: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/user-innovations/68799-goops-google-earth-gps-tracking-navigation-new-gpsgate-mologogo-tracking.html
It is a program that allows you to track yourself with google earth and a gps.

I was running google earth on my laptop , and I paid 20 dollars to google becasue it said that it would allow gps trackability, Goops looks great, Im going to try it inmy new system, I just totalled my car so I am going to upgrade from teh laptop retrofit setup( like cops) to the full custom. I have also been trying to route google earth into xplane. You could run that in the car and then the passenger could fly over the vehicle in an aircraft of their choice over the sattelite imagery.

I have been using sprint vision with usb cable. But Im just waiting to move up to blue tooth and then Ill probably connect that way. then i dont think you can speak and use it at the same time thought whitch would be undesirable. I may have to get one of those wireless verizon broadband cards. I do also want to hook up a wifi antenna with a 1 watt may just maybe a 5 watt amp for the wifi. I should be able to get some pretty serious range and be connected in almost any populated area of the city
