I have a gps that seems to recieve fine but in the Map Point it doesnt do anything useful, MP detects it, but does not seem to retrieve the long/lad from the reciever,
so here is what the output in the terminal services

if anyone can tell me why mp wouldnt work with this i would appreciate it

$GPRMC,001845,V,4011.9286,N,07416.8320,W,0.000,0.0 ,290697,13.0,W*54

These are Lat & Long in DDMM,mmmm.

$PRWIZCH identifies a rockwell/connexant gps unit.

$GPGSA,,,,,,*42 this sentences describe how many satellites are used and here, well there's none.

Quite sure MapPoint then decides that there are no valuable datas spitted by your gps unit.

No GLL messages recieved. GGA Empty. RMC message are NMEA2.1 at least, maybe a 2.0. And coords are present. Maybe from before the GPSR was turned off.

http://briefnotion.250free.com/ Im thinking I should have called it Google Earth navigator.

Sorry but this RMC sentence is NMEA-0183. And by looking carefully, you'll note :

$GPRMC,001845,V,.... V means data is invalid

......,290697,13.0,W*54 That is the FixDate.....

So somehow Kovan pretends his gps is spitting 9 years old sentences......

Exclamation

Has NMEA 2 existed in 97, or are we just getting fooled and these sentences are from an emulator. The position seems real enough.

Dunno if NMEA 2.0 was already out in '97, but even today's Sirf III Gps' still stick to NMEA-0183.

I can allmost hear the squeek of the tracks from the tanks in the ground rumbling distance. Like the chopping of rotors in the wind. Now tell me, why do I think its military? Its probably a tic tak box with the Letters GPSR scribble on it. Right?
