Waterproofness of BU-353.....
I'm wondering just how water proof this thing is.
Has anyone ever put it to the test?

I'm considering it under the cowl. That way it's hidden, but can still see satellites.
Sat. Rad. antennas work find under there too.
Good to know that it does what they say it will do!

the 353 works fine from inside the car, I have mine mounted under the dash. Heck, it even works inside my condo with another level above me...

Mine is mounted on top of the trunk, when i had my pc under the seat it was mounted under the dash board. I just never had problem with this receiver.

thanks, but I'm interested in the receivers waterproofness, as the title of the topic states.

my bu353 is mounted on the roof and it works great. It has 10,000 miles of travel through lots of rain. I wouldn't put it on my jeep and take it under water with only the snorkle sticking out though.

Sorry, my point was why mount it outside while being concerned about weatherproofness when it works just as well inside

I had mine sitting on the trunk lid, wire ran through behind. I forgot about it and ran through a drive through car wash with the brushes. It lasted through that and works FINE!! I would think if it can handle that then it can handle rain.
I have the BU353 now, my old BU303 is in the TItan.

This is good news! I had originally planned on mounting it to the back glass of the truck on the inside. I may put it on the roof instead after all...

Mine is mounted inside the lip of the trunk lid, outside of the weatherstrip seal. It is out of sight but it does get wet. 2-3 months, no problems.
