iG3 hackers, READ ME!
I don't know if you've noticed, but iG3 UMPC version not only has bigger buttons and overall interface elements, but it also has all the map vector data scaled up by about +80%. THIS REALLY ANNOYS ME! If you compare regular IG with UMPC iG side by side, and at the same zoom level, you will notice that there is a huge difference.
So, I am in the quest for regular IG3 vector size, with UMPC larger elements.
I looked at both EXE files with a hex editor, and I think I struck gold: The UMPC version has two sets of strings that are not present in the regular IG version:
XSCALE
YSCALE
They are also sitting right next to THEME.INI string. So something tells me we can actually use these to scale the vector data back to the way I want it, in the UMPC version, via theme.ini file.
I tried the obvious but no luck.
Bang at it guys!

I verified that adding those strings as 2 separate DWORDS to the registry (Under the inav entries) has some effect over the UMPC version! Played with a few values and saw things shifting around and scaling...
I gave up, but maybe someone with more patience?

Holy Grail Indeed!
I want SOOOo Bad to use just the PC version of IG3 as it looks so much better... but using the teenee-weenee OSK sucks!
I also tinkered around with the xscale and yscale in the theme.ini, with no results... Hopefully someone will crack this one! Or at least put the larger menu's into the PC version, either way, I would be happy!

John: My tests indicate that these variables are in fact meantr for the REGISTRY, not the theme.ini file.
I put the DWORDS into the registry and assigned valuers, got different/mixed results.
You play with it and see what it does for you!

Hmmmmm
Definately looks like you are on to something! I just can't make head nor tails of what
I either get the screen that is SOOoo small the street names look like a trail of black ants, (with no overlay window at the bottom) or one that is HUGE!
Here are a couple screen shots.
The first one was with a scale of X45 Y 25
The BLOWN UP one is with X53 Y30

So do you have any suggestion for a optimal scale? maybe with decimal numbers? Don't have IG3 yet so can't do it myself...

No Idea....
I spent about an hour trying to make some sort of logic in how they did the scale... Common sence told me to try "fractions" like X 1 & Y 25 ( 1/25 or comonly known as "quarter scale") No luck.... tried X 1/4 1/2 ect...
Then I thought maby they are doing it like a scale 1:15th ect... After all the trying I was only able to get either of the 2 screens above as results.... no smaller/larger in between ect.
I tried all the above in reverse order 4/1 2/1 15/1................
THe ONLY thingg that I can seem to find out, is that if the values are WAY off, you get the itsy bitsy screen. Now and then the large one will show up with certain number combinations.
As for decimal numbers, the registry does not allow a decimal point to be entered as a DWord value.
It sure seems like this would be the place that they did the new scaling, but damned if I can figgure out how
Anyone else tried figguring this out?

...JIT, can't you make a single thread with all of your iG 3 mods or something? I have to keep looking for work on cool mods and every time I find one you are behind it

Possible IG3 Direct Menu access With RR
I am not a programmer for say, but I do tinker, and can usually make sence of something and get it to work.
I have a couple buttons on my IG skin that access a couple file menu commands, such as the "Enter destination" command. For the button in RR is use the following code:
"SENDKEY;%{f}{e}"
This basicly sends an ALT+F E to IG to bring up that menu on screen.
I got to thinking, is is possible to add file menu's to link to the other menu's that are not in the pulldown, such as "Favorites". So I set out to try.
I fired up ResHacker, and I was able to create an entirely new pulldown, and copy the com1 port option in Tools/GPS Options/Com Ports/com1 to the newly created pulldown. So the menu's can be altered easily.
Here is a screen Capture:
Now it's just a matter of one of the Programmers/Code guru's on the forums to figgure out the "address" of say the Favorites menu. Then it can be assigned to a pulldown, and accessed dirrectly from a RR button!
It would be much cleaner and faster, if we can access IG3's screens dirrectly through IG3, instead of creating a plugin/program to try to hook into IG3.
Looks like all we need to figgure out is the addresses of each of the other dialog menu's.

JUst thought I'd let you all know that although I have not figured out how to use the Xscale and Yscale registries, I did find that there is (and has been for a long time) a theme.ini parameter called:
MSR - map scale ratio
Have not been able to experiment thoroughly yet, but maybe others can give it a try?
