I just wanted to add a little more details to the previous instructions.

Step 1.) Download Reshack http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

Step 2.) Download Igqwerty

Step 3.) Open Reshack.

Step 4.) Open Iguidanceumpc.exe into Reshack. (I dragged the executable into the reshack program myself)

Step 5.) Follow RichP714's instructions regarding the dialog editing.

Step 6.) After you have saved everything make sure your igqwerty application is running. (you dont have to run the igcoordpatcher.exe)

Thats it, you now should be able to use the wonderful qwerty keyboard with iguidance 4! yay!

I don't have iguidance 3 anymore but could anyone test this out for me? After typing in a destination to look for, could you add it to your favourites and hit "edit" so that you can give the favourite a name?

When you get there, do you get the qwerty keyboard or the abc one?

In IG4, i'm getting the abc version. Using reshacker, i think it is dialog box 1046 but i dont' know what to add into it to make the qwerty kb come up.

thanks!

If its a dialog that is similar to ig3's shape and layout, Caption "OSK" should work for you do you have a screen shot of the page?
By placing OSK in caption iGQ will load, hope that helps
i am redoing my carpc so i cant test or recode at the moment tho

EDIT nevermind ive reproduced this problem
ill see if i can get it fixed

EDIT2 after looking it appears that the OSK caption does follow that dialog properly but due the way IG is written if i changed the code it would cause problems elsewhere. most of which were bugs which is why IGQ searched only for the possibility to load after certain screens in IG. Its not to say it cant be fixed tho i just dont have the vb project loaded on this PC. so i cant alter the code to see if it would work In the meantime

if everone in this thread took 2 mins to drop an email fax or call to inav about your disappontment in non qwerty and other issues it might get fixed

One suggestion I've heard of is Faxing a company till you receive an answer
INav
Phone: 949-623-8559
Fax: 949-608-9466
After all paper isn't cheap

sorry maybe i have the wrong dialog box. I'm not entirely sure how this reshacking works. Basically, when i hit "edit" in that dialog box, i want the qwerty keyboard to come up. This is the dialog box that you get when you type in an address.

When i click "edit" in that dialog box, the old abc keyboard pops up so that i can name the favourite that i just found.

edit - That was quick!

Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to change the colour of your qwerty keyboard?

I really like the skin made by taylorgauss (silver type theme) and i wanted to match the keys he used with qwerty kb instead of the abc.

I tried opening up "igqwerty.exe" in reshack but i didn't see options to replace any keyboard images.

Thank you.

yes you can it will require a little skinning tho
check my website look for the addon files i believe igq_osk_down.bmp and igq_OSK_up.bmp reskin those with the colors/style you desire or maybe ask taylorgauss to give it a go as he probably has the templates for photoshop etc
let him know i can upload the alternative skin to my site if he wants too

after you create the skin files add them to the same directory you have the iGQ executable in and it will load the skin rather than the default images. just make sure the filenames are correct

Just a little note (FYI):

I wrote a review of iG4 for my newly started non-commercial website, Laptop GPS World, and as the most important item on my wish list I listed Qwerty-type keyboard. This doesn't mean Qwerty OSK is going to appear in the next version, but IMHO it's important to gently push the issue when ever and where ever possible .

There is going to be a relationship between iNav Corporation (the developer of iGuidance) and Laptop GPS World. Does it mean iNav will little-by-little increase its attention to the Laptop/UMPC/CarPC version of iGuidance? That remains to be seen. The future will tell. But it would surely be nice .

If interested to see the "qwerty wish..." and the "iNav & Laptop GPS World" info, here's the link to the review: http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/inav-i...nce-4-0-a.html

Thumbs up Got QWERTY on IG4!

Thanks LostReception, RichP714 and mrcanngo. I have never used reshacker before, but was able to patch my ig4 to allow it to work with the 1.0c version of the qwerty keyboard.
