This above picture depicts how I wish Streets & Trips 2008 would look like next year A few more GPS related features should be accessible from the new full screen mode. Users should be able to have the option to start S&T with full-screen mode enabled (with GPS functions turned on). Most of us most of the time don't need to use most of the advanced planning features of S&T, but we just want to enter a destination and drive. S&T should allow for this from the full screen mode (without having to switch to the "planning mode").

I don't understand why you all want and expect Microsoft to completely change the functionality of their software to meet the needs of a very niche market?

They don't make their living selling to the CarPC market. In fact, I bet they loose money with all the people that illegally download the software..

Instead of expecting them to completely change the functionality to meet the needs of about .5% of their market, why not ask them to design a seperate piece of software?

Think about what S&T is designed for. People who are planning a trip. Businesses and traveling sales personnel. It's designed to be a more in depth application that will enable users to design trips and set out more efficient routes.

RedGTiVR6, I suspect you haven't yet bought the new 2007 version, or at least you haven't tried the new full-screen navigation mode. I don't think any of us is suggesting big changes to the application.

The new full screen mode makes Streets & Trips 2007 usable on a small size screen. It has a few large size buttons there to accommodate touch screen users. All that we really want is to add a couple of more buttons to the new autohiding toolbar so a few more functions can be easily accessed (such as enter destination) without exiting the full screen mode.

When a user exits the full-screen navigation mode, the application is no longer small screen / touch screen friendly. Because of that I think it would improve user experience if there was a user selectable option to start the program in the new full-screen navigation mode (with GPS functions turned on).

So far so good I just dislike switching views, and my screen resolution cuts off the bottom section of the route planning window where recalculate button is so I have to hit F3 on my mini keyboard to calculate directions from my current gps location but its been very handy on my past trip this weekend. what skin can I use that integrates s&t 07

No. You can get MapPoint 2006 (both EU and NA), but MapPoint 2006 doesn't have the new features of S&T 2007. (The map data seem identical, though.)

Thanks.

That was way too much searching on Microsofts site

I already got MapPoint 2006 through MSDN, I just couldn't find anything that directly said whether or not you could get streets and trips.

I just got 2007 and can say they have made great strides in making it more friendly in the car. RedGTiVR6 , MS is trying to get to the 7" Ultra Mobile market, that is why the sudden interest in small touch screen friendly layout.

Overall I think it was worth the upgrade. Most of the changes seem small but add up to a better piece of software.

The incorrect right turn to get on the freeway by my house is still wrong in this version even though it was reported in the last version.

The best thing in 2007 is it now gives you names for off ramps. In the past it would just say "Take ramp right" but if you were coming up on multiple rights it was a nightmare. It now says "Take ramp right (Street name)".

Also, the night skin is better, in the past the smaller streets on the night skin was impossible to see.

The full screen is interesting but of little value to me so far. It amazes me how far behind the curve MS has been in the respect. They should buy their developers a bunch of those Samsung things and make them use it on there. Then I think we would finally get some action. Currently I think the full screen mode is to limiting for me so I will continue to work on my embedded S&T into Road Runner, I have most of the functions I need already and am working on adding more when I can figure out where to get a little more real estate.

It still works with xport.

As far as I have seen all the sendkeys still work.

I still have more tweaking to do and playing around to see what else can be done with it.

Microsoft today announced 3D in its Virtual Earth on-line service. My hope is that this technology will eventually make it into the future CD products, too. MS Streets & Trips 2008 perhaps?
