what GPS will work with Innovatek monitor
Hi all. My first time here.
I recently purchased a Innovatek DVD-720TS Touch Screen in-dash dvd moniotor. Is anyone familier with this device? It has a GPS port on the back, with 10 pins I beleive, and I am wondering what brand(s) of GPS navigation will work with the touchscreen. Any help will be much appriciated.

If you are building a CarPC then you are probably interested in using a Windows-based GPS solution. In this case the 10-pin connector has no bearing over what you can or can't use.
If not, then you should and find out what they call the port/protocol. Then, you can look for GPSes that support that feature.

Strange... I wonder why they where thinking. I've seen round RS-232 connectors before. Perhaps it is something as simple as that?

Well I wrote to the manufacturer in china, and final got back 2 short emails written in poor english that both said that, despite a GPS jack in the back of the unit, there is currently no GPS unit that is compatable with the 720TS. Perhaps that placed it there in case they make one in the future.
Strawberry, how do you like your 720ts unit otherwise. I have not taken mine out of the box yet. Should I return it?

How do you guys like the DVD-720TS? A few questions.
how many RCA video in's does it have?
how is the sound quality?
any problems with the CD/DVD/MP3 reader?
any pictures of it in action? how is the on screen display?.. looks very boring from the picture I've seen:

We don't!
Why don't we?
1 - The general consensus is that Innovatek is crap.
2 - We put PCs in our rides for all the functionality of a unit like this (and then some!).

Yeah I'd like to build a carputer for my ride as well, just no money for it at the moment. My DVD headunit finally crapped out on me and I need a cheap replacement to use in the interim. Why DVD headunit? Because I need the screen for a specialized GPS unit that my workplace uses for workorders. For the price, the extra features are just bonus.
But what would you recommend Darque?

Considering I've never installed or used an in-dash DVD headunit, I have no recommendation to give.
