gabbe>you are correct in that TMC is traffic data sent over regular fm radio waves and some fm radios will be able to pick it up. However a much easier solution is to get a GPS device with tmc built in.

Ok, I can answer my own q. Got following from mapfactor:
>Hello,
>you can use one of these TMC reciever - gns, navilock, BTT100, OpenTMC
>protocol (Amaryllo). Many of them using bluetoth connection. If you buy
>Bluetooth reciever to USB, you can use it as well.
>Regards Nidrle
What GPS with inbuilt TMC are prefered?
thanks /gabbe

I was given the following info today by Directions.
Free patch is not available yet, hopefully soon.
Main improvement is free MapExplorer with import ( this feature may not work with v6 data), routing point set saving, open TMC (not available in this country).
I must tell you that 'sizeable' window is not there yet, it should be in v7.1, hopefully later this month.
So the resizeable window didn't make it to this release which is a big disappointment. Also I don't really understand the point about MapExplorer. Does this mean that they've made a fundamental change to the way the map data is stored and handled or is it an additional tool?

Problem is that I don't think the Windows product is there main focus... its just a by product of the main PDA PNA software and there for all the key items and features dont really get the attention they deserve.

Terran, I'm sure that your correct about Direction's priorities.
I guess that the reality is that there are not many of us who drive around with PC's in their cars. IMHO the rest of the world doesn't know what they're missing, but I guess that's life.

I sent the above posting before checking my mail. When I did there was another message from Directions. See it and my reply below.
Graham
Thanks for your reply and for acknowledging the difficulties that you’re experiencing. Please don’t give up on the resizeable window. I know that there are quite a few people eagerly waiting for that feature.
Best Regards
Graham

Tomas, thanks for the info. The resizeable window is what I’m looking forward to, so from what you say it looks as though I’ll have to wait about another month.
Best Regards
Graham

ok i got it working 100%.. wow it is nice to have updated maps...i have created a skin i will post it in a few days for everyone.. all buttons are bigger and touch screen friendly and the colors are a bit nicer..
I am working on muting winamp when directions are spoken..it works 99% as the software i am using to do that is a littlebit buggy and crashes a lot..check it out on www.indievolume.com
it actually has a "per application volume" like vista, but also has an exclusive mode for a chosen app, meaning, it mutes everything when the spacific app speaks check it out..
there is no need for destiplus anymore, and for your information...the new maps DO NOT WORK on PN anymore..only on D6!!!!!!!! (nice bussiness decitions destinator)
I know an SDK could offer more but this is OK for 90% of the people.. i will post more in a few days..
