Problem with BU353 signal in IG3

I recently put together a carputer and installed it in the car yesterday. Everything seems to be working fine except for the GPS. I have BU353 USB GPS receiver.

I installed the drivers for it and ran the GPS Iformation software that came with it and it showed that it was communicating fine with it. Also within seconds it locked onto 5 sattellites but when I started IGuidance 3, it could not find a GPS signal.

I waited for almost 10 mins and it wasn't able to lock to even one sattelite. Is there any setting that I need to do in IG3 ? I looked everywhere but I couldn't find any GPS setting in IG3.

Please help.

Tools>GPS Settings>

Try the Auto detect first. Get it working outside of any frontend software first. The baud rate should be 4800, make note of the com port number once you have it working.

If you are using Roadrunner or some other front end that asks for GPS port number, set it there to 0 or some other non-existent port. Or use a software com port splitter.

Good luck

I tried using GPS outside RR and it works perfectly but when I open up RR (with Blue Devil skin), IGuidance is unable to find GPS. I checked RRConfig and in it the GPS port is set to zero.

I also installed Xport and mapped my COM4 (GPS port) to ports 10 and 11. I setup IG on COM 11 and it worked fine on that too but in Road Runner, I still have the same problem (I did not change the port in RRConfig and its still at zero). What could be the problem ?

what is the com port number, i know in my truck its 10, which iguidance doesnt like to recgonize with out some persuasion ( i need to fix that, maybe tonight when i get bored...)

anyway, set the gps com port number to something i think lower than 6, do this in device manager, and ditch xport for the moment (or for ever if you wish)

see if this works
