Streets & Trips 2007

Hi, I was watching tv the other night...and saw a laptop on QVC that was running Streets & Trips...I noticed that the whole map area pretty much blinked, and had a somewhat long refresh rate when updating the location of the receiver...what I mean is...the map would display...then turn grey for like .5 seconds...then display again....etc etc...is this really what this software does? Or was something messed up with their demo?

One last thing...I have at&t natural voices...will I be able to use this in streets & trips 2007?

Could it also be strobe effect between the refresh rate of the screen and the camera? It might look ok to the naked eye but bad on a TV when filmed by a camera. Kinda like car wheels in movies can look like their going backwards sometimes.

Though I could see a strobe effect on the laptop...this was a very noticable lag (not like that of the strobe effect). It was like Frame1....gray...Frame2...gray...Frame3....gray... .Frame4

Alright, I just picked up this software and it's cool...I have a few more questions. I noticed that there are some local restaurants that are spelled wrong (i.e. Thovys instead of Chovys....and Comadaro instead of Compadres)...is it possible to rename restaurants/locations? Also, I noticed some restaurants are way off on their locations...for example if you pull out of my driveway...and turn right...go a few miles...theres a red lobster...but on the map...it has you going left out of my restaurant to red lobster...is there a way to fix this?

No, users cannot edit the database in S&T 07. You could let Microsoft and/or its map data provider know about the error, though.

Is the address in the information balloon incorrect, or just the placement of the icon on the map is wrong? Are you talking about a restaurant you found through 'Find Nearby Places' feature, or via the new Windows Live Search feature integrated in S&T 07? I did notice some geocoding errors in the new WLS feature (especially here in Canada), but at least the address in the info balloon is correct.

Question for people with S&T2007:

Has '07 been updated to say street names too? Such as "In zero point two miles, turn left onto Main Street" instead of just "In zero point two miles, turn left".

This has always bugged me because it knows the street name, it can read everything else, and it is reading not just playing back audio because you need the speech pack to make it sound good, so why not street names!!

I don't care if it mispronounces some of the more "foreign" worded streets but as long as I get something close.

Or if anybody knows of some plugin that allows this, I would be happy.

no. no it doesnt

Besides the color change it now has a fullscreen mode which is didnt really have in 2006. ON top of that the fullscreen mode has a top bar with large buttons which would work well with a touchscreen.
