Holux GR-213 - Can't get to work with Map Monkey

Dunno if this is my fault or a fault with the unit.

I've just purchased the Holux GR-213 for use with Map Monkey. I have tried the drivers that came with it and the drivers I downloaded from Holux. However, Map Monkey won't find GPS.

I have tried different COM ports, different positions for the mouse (albeit next to my window), and two different systems with the same results. The manual suggests that if it's flashing it has a lock, and it flashes even during bootup. How come Map Monkey won't/can't find it?

I have searched the forums and nothing seems to explain it.

I'm tearing my hair out. Anyone know what the problem is and how to solve it?

Check which GPS mode MM is set for and which your receiver is outputting. Baud rates also need to be 4800 for NMEA and 19200 for Sirf.

Try something like GPSInfo or Winfast Navigator to find out if the receiver is working ok first

Just eyed up your install. Nice work mate. Nice car too. I am Nissan friendly.

Tried what you said and it worked! Bizarre considering i tried every conceivable GPS mode already. Only difference this time was that i installed GPSInfo & Winfast Navigator before i plugged the GPS mouse in. Must have had some kind of interesting voodoo effect eh?

Thanks for that. You are a God.

Glad you got it working

Come on slacker get some pics of your Zed posted up What sort of power you running?

My 200 has suffered a little this winter, it has some new scratches on it, and a small dent which needs filling and painting when the weathers a little warmer maybe

Standard power 280-300bhp + a bit. Spend most of my cash on the interior and insurance! And fixing whatever goes wrong. As you may have guessed I'm re-doing the interior. Once it's done it will be perrrrrrrrrfect

Never did much for the power cos it's my daily driver and for the last 2 years i had to drive it 80 miles a day. Once interior is done (soon?) i'm going for a JWT chip and boost jets for approx 80-100bhp increase. That'll be nice.

My Z suffers every winter. Damn thing stalls when cold. Need to get that fixed too. And last month i ruined both alloys on left side hard braking over a pot-hole. ALLOYS ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD!!!

Hope you sort your bodywork out mate. Gotta be looking pristine for summer
