Was ordered by the court to provide information on
I showed a GPS recording from my carpc proving I wasn't speeding, the opposition questioned the accuracy and delay time of GPS, and want the model, and manual from the receiver.
The receiver is from Microsoft, is USB, and is clear. the only number on it is written right above the USB connector, under the plastic, and looks like it was written by hand with a marker. The number reads 450203
Does anyone have any idea how to find out what model this thing is, and where I can find a manual?

Also, give them the box with whatever in it.
I mean the retail box that MS sold. I am sure there is some printed info on the box that said how good the unit is.

I am VERY interested to know how this turns out.
Wish I could help more.
I am QUITE SURPRISED that the OPPOSITION (actually, the prosecution ) didn't question the actual date that the GPS track was recorded. Maybe they will bring that up later, hopefully not. I hate cops that enforce the vehicle code.

Dude, if he wins this somehow, I will DEFINITELY figure out the hack, you can BET on it. Well, that would be dishonest, and probably an ethical violation on my part. Maybe I shouldn't say what I said.
On second thought, I take all that back, but I would like to know if he is successfull. Again, I find it hard to believe that the court is entertaining the evidence, but I have heard stranger things from judges, that's for sure.

The following is the link to the specifications of GPS-360, the GPS receiver which was included in the packege named: "Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS Locator"
http://www.pharosgps.com/support/igps360_spec.htm
Good luck!

They did question it, but I was able to win that part of the trial by showing them that how GPS works is by sending the time from the satellites, and extrapolating how long it took the signal to get to the receiver by how much time had lapsed.
The judge basically said if I could show them documentation from a reliable source backing up what I said then I would be found innocent.

What I really need though is a pdf version of street trips 05 with the gps receiver included manual. I don't want to try and explain how the microsoft gps receiver I stated I had magically turned into a pharos receiver...theses people are not technically inclined at all and the prosecution will make a big deal out of it. But, if anyone can find a document showing that pharos sold microsoft the receivers for streets 05...then I might be able to get a way with that.
I also need written proof of on average how long it takes THIS receiver to get a signal from a satellites. The officer was trying to tell them that it could take as long as 30-60 seconds AFTER it had synced with all the satellites....which I know it's closer to .06 of a second, but I need written proof of that. He even said that because at the time I was connected to ten satellites, it would take longer for the data to get to me and compile on the computer. Which, if anything would improve accuracy and speed.

I will then chalk that up to an idiot cop and judge. I would have countered "but how do we know that you recorded it on SUCH AND SUCH DATE, and not the next day, and just used your computer to play a track from a different day/modified a different track to seem like it is from the day of the ticket. I guess the judge is just looking to let you off, but wants to give the cop a little fighting chance.
I hope you beat the ticket.
