Holux GR 236 Bluetooth

Thought some of you guys might want to know about this deal. A new Holux 236 for $52 shipped. That's the best price I found on these by far and thought I would pass it on. Here on ebay.

$52 shipped off ebay

Iffy

I don't recommend this GPS Receiver. I've had a problem on it where the bluetooth part of the device just stops working because a certain part of the chip was not soldered properly from the manufacturer. And this is an issue that has been discussed on message boards as well. There are some GPSlim devices which don't have this problem but make sure that you find out the serial number of the device before you commit to this one. Or else you'll have to tape it around with duct tape to emulate a solder on the receiver to put the right pressure on it to function. Hope this helps.

I ordered one of these the night I posted this and it has already gotten here. Talk about fast shipping... I have read a lot of great reviews on these and it was at the right price.

I have the Holux 240. When you boot up does your bluetooth device sync with the GPS automatically or do you have to enable it through the software. It would be perfect if my bluetooth found my holux and automatically enabled its service instead of me having to choose the service I want it to use.

I bought a bluetooth usb adapter and it will automaticlly select a device it sees and enable which ever service you want to use when you boot if you set it to do that. I am just in the gathering phase of my carputer install. I am only waiting on the screen and sound deadening though before I start installing.

What software are you using with your usb adapter. I have blue soleil and it sucks.

Just installed Blue Soleil the other day and it's not that bad. Unfortunately it tears down connections on hibernate and does not re-establish them automatically. Can't get it to cooperate with XPort either. Let's see how GPSgate works with it.

Are there any other bluetooth programs like blue soleil? One that will connect at startup and reconnect at resume as well.
