GPS with Traffic Lights

I was wondering if there is a GPS program out there that allows the user to put in times of when the traffic lights change so they then can be told how fast they have to go to make the light and how many seconds are left until the light changes. Thanks for anybody that can answer this question.

There is NO such software.
Also, that is a receipe for accident/speeding ticket.
And if you know now traffic light work, you wouldn't ask this question. I don't know it either but at least I know that the light change in according to how heavy the traffic is via sensors on the road. Did you ever wonder why there are circle/octagon looking shape on the road before the traffic light?

Well the lights at the end of my road change at

8.45am, 8.47am, 8.49am and so on.

unless it's a wednesday in which case it's

8.45.30am 8.48am 8.50.30am and so on.

I won't even do the weekends because it then gets complicated.

I don't know much about traffic lights but i know that it is possible to send a signal to them inorder to change them but i don't know if they send out signals. I doubt that they do but would it be possible to intercept these signals and then use the information to make a program?

That is one downfall about mapping software. It does not take in to account the amount of time you may be sitting at a light. In some instances it may be better to take a longer route but will have a faster trip because of less lights that may be involved or less driven/popular roads. Nav software just is not that smart. Drive the route it suggests and make you own decision. Look at the map to see if there are any other possible routes to try. Changing the shortest/quickest/scenic settings may also prove to be beneficial.

Some traffic lights "watch" for the strobe lights on the front of emergency vehicles. The speed at which the strobe flashes is what the light is looking for. Not all lights have these sensors but you're more likely to see them around fire stations and hospitals.

I was at an intersection on a Saturday that was down the road from the fire station. A cop had someone pulled over just past the intersection. His strobes kept his direction of traffic green while my direction stayed red. After about four or five mintutes (and no cross traffic) a few people decided that they were not going to wait for the green and we (safetly) ran the red light because it was not going to change to green until the cop turned his lights off.

Its more than likely the MIRT (Mobile Infra Red Transmitter) they have behind the front grill. Its an IR emmiter that sends an encoded pulse to change the lights to green. I'm sure a swift google will give you some info about them, but im not prepared to link them because of the dubious legality of owning one unless your an emergency vehicle.

Yea, they're basically high powered IR strobes. You can find them online and even instructions on how to build one but are very illegal to use and if the traffic light also has a camera mounted on it then the camera will be able to see that it's your car sending out that giant IR flashing signal....word of warning. If you have a camera phone turn on the camera portion and point it at the front of one of your remote controls and press a button, same principle.
