Pharos igps-500

Wanted opinions on the pharos igps-500

I was thinking about this gps unit and combinging it with iguidance. Anybody have any experience with this unit or opinion? Better yet, anyone use this with iguidance?

Any help would be great. Running RR with digital fx skin.

Thanks

iGPS-500 is the optional GPS unit sold with Microsoft Streets & Trips 2007. It is based on the great SiRFstarIII chipset, so the receiver has very good sensitivity to weak satellite signals. However, due to its a bit smaller size (smaller antenna), you may find in side-by-side comparisons that the sensitivity is slightly lower in comparison to some other SiRFstarIII units.

It should work with iGuidance and many other software programs just fine.

I have that the pharos 500, pikced it up for $40 (CAN). It works awesome with Streets and Trips. I have not had time to test set it up with Iguidance 3.0 that i am running.
I assumed that it would start working right away but it did not. Still don't know how to set it up if anyone can help out that would be great.
Other than that i have the GPS puck hidden in my dash and it still picks up everything (in streets and trips)

1. How do i get this to wokr with Iguidance 3.0
2. Is Map Monkey better than iGuidance, i haven't tried it yet.

Hi,

I use the igps-500 and iGuidance3 and it works just fine. I usually get a lock in under 30 seconds with the unit under the center console / armrest of my Miata.

I'm using Xport3 as a splitter between iGuidance and RR. I do occasionally have a problem with my system not going into hibernation, but I haven't yet tracked down the cause. It may be a misconfiguration of RR's iG-embedded settings.

Hi Troy,

The Steps:
1) Plug in the iGPS-500.
2) Install the drivers for it.
3) Check "Device Manager" to determine which COM port it's using.
4) Start iGuidance
5) Go to "Tools"->"GPS Options"->"COM Port" and select the right one, determined from step 3.
