IGuidance 3.0 and Embedding RR

I am getting my GPS receiver tomorrow and a couple of days ago I installed iGuidance 3.0 and have been playing around with how to make it work adequately in RR. I have figured out how to embed iGuidance into SKINbedder and Autoit and even IGmon. From what I can tell all of these were made for a previous version of iGuidance and that they don’t work well with 3.0 (or seem to be needed)…Is that assumption correct?

So far I seem to be fairly happy with the stock functionality of iGuidance 3.0 and I may not need much more than it provides. What I do want though is a way to embed it into RR such that I can switch back and forth between it and my tunes. If I embed it into RR using External (and no skinbedder or anything else) then I find that iGuidance closes when I try and go back to my audio player. Is there a way to solve that? I am fine with editing my current skin to do what I need.

Since I am new to the GPS problems I don’t know how hard it is to solve what I am asking for. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If you care to make any other observations about problems that I will need to solve then I am listening.

Roadrunner supports imbedding Iguidance internally wihtout any other programs. As for your problem with switching songs and keeping your Iguidance open, you can place a next and previous button like in the picture.

or you can add an exit/close button that does not close the gps program but returns you to your desired screen to switch between songs.

What skin are you using anyway?

I am using a modified version of Triton. I did embed iGuidance into RR with no other programs.
When I say switching I mean I would like to be able to switch to the audio_player screen while iGuidance runs in the background. I assume if I do this then iGuidance would still warn me of approaching turns and such and that is what I want. Then I could pop over to the GPS screen to view the map.

So how would I make a button that would pop me over to the audio_Player screen w/o closing iGuidance.

I thought iGUidance closed at first also , but it was only a visual bug , if you click anywhere and drag ( where the map is suposed to be ) the iguidance will appear.

No, you are correct. It is a display bug. Playing around at work here I embedded calc.exe. I can load numbers into the buffer and switch back and forth and when the calc comes back up it still has the number in the buffer. SWEET. Thanks so much. I am half way there now.

Another thing you can do is make a button that links to a command on iguidance ( like JohnWPB does in his DigitalFX skin ; check his external_gps.skin file )

Never mind. I am thinking this is only a problem because I am testing in my driveway. If I were moving I suspect that iGuidance would be constantly updating and as such it wouldn't be blank for long.

LOL - I was curious about the same issue so I just found this thread. You are in fact, correct. Any update of the screen (i.e. the scrolling map while driving) makes it show back up. In the brief second or so it takes to do that on mine I just see through to my desktop.
