www.whereis.com.au
be nice to be able to use it altho they have logo's stuck on the edge of all images.
EDIT: If i remember correctly the images arn't all the same i tried making a big map out of the tiles from the site and the roads didn't actually match up after about 2 or 3 tiles and thats with the same zoom level so it might be useless.

As far as the logged thing goes that I just mentioned: I don't know why they aren't coming up for todays date (they should come up tomorrow). I'll figure it out tonight. I'm going to eat right now.

I think this software kicks a$$!! Great Job. I was wondering if it would be possible to some how integrate this in any way with SMS. Would it be possible to send a sms through your home computer to your car computer asking it to sms back the coordantes to a map then displaying your location? This way you would not need a constant connection to the net, plus you wouldnt be eating up your monthly mb limit? I appoligize if this has already been covered.

Nope this hasn't been covered (something similar with UK people but not this). The only problem with this that I can see is I would have to be able to pull text messages from the phone. I would assume that this would be differant for every phone. I would also have to have some way of sending SMS messages. I'm not too familiar with this service so unless you know some way of doing this then I'm not sure I'd be able to implement it. Good idea either way though.

Thanks for the quick reply, If i find any info on the possibilities i will post em, I thought that zorro's phonecontrol via bluetooth might able to be integrated,
(off zorro's site )
"Added Magic Word to received SMS
With that feature you can specify a "Magic Word" within tag <MagicWord executable="..."> in section <MainWindow>. When PhoCo receives a SMS starting with this "Magic Word" it doesn't show it but rather it starts the application specified in attribute executable.
Use this to control your CarPC from the distance "
It would be super cool, but i can only come up with ideas, I cant delivery product, and im no programmer.

hehe, well programmers need lot's of ideas so keep em coming.
Any idea if PhoCo has any way of interacting with it? I don't know because it doesn't work with my phone.

I think you probably could set up some sort of batch file that could get the coordanites and send it, but send it to what? There could be a calabaration with you and zorro to get the carpc end runnin, but idealy you would want it to send to an online "sms server" if such a thing exists and from there you can pull the information otherwise you need to have a second cell phone to recieve the sms. Im not really sure of the full capabilities of phocontrol but this sort of intigration would rock.

I know I can send SMS messages to the phone so we woudn't have to worry about that. Would just be getting them. You might post a message in the PhoCo forum asking if it is possible to interface with it.

I'm live again. If someone is awake can you check to see if it is still jumping between online/offline mode like it was before? I'll be live in about 2 minutes.

there are a few standalone devices that do it (you want standalone in case the PC is off). here is one... http://www.rfsolutions.co.uk/acatalo...Telemetry.html
There are a few people in the Uk working on this and what you really want is a dead reckoning GPS module so even if the car is being driven through a tunnel or a car park it will still give you GPS updates.

You have to have their hardware for this though right? Would be nicer if we could just get it working with a regular phone link-up.

yeah i think Chris31 and Dancehaven both have some sort of hardware circuit to link a cellphone and the serial output from a GPS reciever and tell the phone to send the GPS coordinates on request or other trigger. E.g motion sensor or when the GPS data changed by X amount. For security I would rather a standalone version I can hook up to a second serial port and an old PAYG phone hidden somewhere. Your software would also be pretty cool so that i could actively track my car when the PC is on but if the PC gets turned off or the car is being towed then the standalone version would still be active (but not as user friendly).
