Pontiac OEM XM Tuner

I recently bought an 07 Grand Prix to replace my totaled G6. I managed to salvage my carputer from my old car. Currently I am planning the new install. The Grand Prix has the XM Radio Package installed and I would like to take advantage of it. The only problem is that the tuner is not the same as the XM direct tuners.

The tuner has the same antenna connection (No surprise). The OEM tuner lacks the RCA outputs and the 8-pin mini din connector. Instead the tuner has a 16-pin connector. Only 6 wires run into the wire harness.

I have determined the pins for power, but i cannot discern the functions of the other pins. Obviously, there has to be right and left channels out since the tuner lacks the rca output. The other wires must be for control.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where to go from here? Thanks for the help.

Thanks, that is a tremendous help. Where did you find that? I have spent all day searching for schematics but with no success.

I am a professional technician. It is from a paid service from Mitchell.

Well, it appears that this project may be more involved than I originally anticipated. I was hoping that the output from the oem tuner would be the same as the xm direct. Unfortunately now to use the com port as I had wanted, the single channel "serial data" will have to be converted to two channel send/receive (If I am wrong, someone please correct me).

Im a mechanical engineer and slightly out of my element, however talking to some of the EE's here at the office it seems possible. If anyone has any advice, I would be most appreciative.

Out of curiosity, does anybody on this forum with Mitchell access have the pinouts for an 06 Grand Prix radio with the six disc in dash changer? I am bound and determined to not just buy one of the adapters and want to build a complete CAN solution that I can integrate directly into my carpc. I am having the damndest time finding these pinouts though.
