MOST bus car project (latest AUDI,BMW,MB,Porsche,Volvo)

Hi all,
Long time no see
We got MOST bus project and I'm wondering if anyone is interested in having car PC streaming to it ?
I'm not thinking going further than audi/video streaming/control but may be you have other ideas ?

Finding info on the MOST bus was difficult at first, but here is some info I dug up:

http://www.embedded.com/columns/tech...printable=true - general info

http://www.mostcooperation.com/techn...ons/index.html - general info

http://www.smsc-ais.com/AIS/componen...id,262/show,4/ - Evaluation board

This could be useful for developing an interface, though it probably will require reprogramming of the MOST controller in order to add it to the sequence.

http://www.smsc-ais.com/AIS/componen...id,750/show,0/
NIC that is in spy mode. Probably more useful as a monitoring tool than what we need.

http://www.gsmserver.com/repair_tool....php?id=813291
This is an expensive ($560 US) device which hops on the MOST bus. It adds support for a usb connected device in Mass Storage Device mode, has an RCA input for audio and video, and can add bluetooth.

http://www.vector.com/vi_most_interface_en,,223.html
http://www.vector.com/vi_canoe_most_en,,223.html
http://www.vector.com/vi_canalyzer_most_en,,223.html
This seems closest to what we would need, at least initially. No indication of pricing, which generally means $$$$$.

The info on MOST is super interesting once you get down to it. MOST150 is like the current most system, but seems to add a 100BaseT Ethernet channel allongside the regular data.

The number of dollar signs in your post is right:

MOST Interface: ~ EUR 3000.-
CANoe+MOSTopt: ~ EUR 14000.-
CANalyzer+MOSTopt: ~ EUR 7000.-

We're prototyping it at the OEM level now

Without revealing who I work for, we are currently prototyping this approach.
My most recent install was in a 2007 530xi.
The system is essentially an intel based pc with a dvd drive, usb connectivity, 300Gb dark drive, nav, am,fm, streaming audio via pandora, yahoo search capability, one shot voice recognition, etc. It uses a standard monitor in the dash and is controlled via the steering wheel controls and the I drive controller from an M6, both on the CAN bus.
Connectivity is optic direct from the pc to the L7 amp. This is the only connection between the pc and the OEM sound system at a signal level.

Hmm, interesting. Is the optic connection off of the L7 amp a MOST signal, or just an optical connection? Also, does the CAN network in the 530xi give you both PT-CAN and K-CAN data?

After looking at the MINI Cooper R56 WDS and other diagrams, it looks like the MFSW buttons are going to be on the K-CAN (which operates at 100kBits/s), so a CAN-USB interface should be good enough for that and most other sensors other than stuff coming off the PT-CAN (powertrain).
