Ford CD Changer Radio Interface

Hello All!

I was wondering if anyone had some information on the Ford Taurus Stock CD Changer Interface? I want to build a serial link to the CD Changer interface to control my music from the Stock head unit. Information on the data that is being transmitted/received would be very helpful as well as the pinouts

BTW this project is for a 1997 Taurus GL.

First of all you have to know which type of the radio you have. Once you know who built it, the bus is known so you can get all the signals right. Just show us the stock radio tag or some info on it...

It's the stock JBL System for the 96-99 Taurus Sedans. This is the system without the Automatic Climate controls, the one with the turn knobs. It has the CD Changer Buttons on the front. I can pull the Ford Part number later this after noon if that would help...

The actual CD Changer connector interface is located in the rear of the car and is a 13pin connector.

The far (3rd) right connector is the where the changer would be plugged in:

I wasn't able to identify which bus it uses. If you can find the information on which CD changers( which bus it uses ) it understands, I can tell you how complicated it would be to attach the PC to it.

I know that P.I.E. makes cables to interface with aftermarket stereo's such as Kenwood, Alpine and Pioneer. However I would assume that they have made some changes to the signals for each player noticing that there is a box that goes in between the Ford Interface and the Changer Interface. I was hoping that someone had some information on the Ford Protocol (ACP/SCP). Seems like everyone has just heard about it.

I know that one of the cables will support the Alpine Changers using M-Bus protocol. I might just have to purchase an ebay setup to scan the data that's being transmitted.
