is there any way to do this with a different XM reciever, I have the XM Nexus 50 like this:
http://www.xmradio.com/nexus/index.xmc Anytime I connect it to my computer it says "do not disconenct" and only acts as a flash drive for the music storage. I am guessing not, but its worth asking. It works in the cradle from the car kit and recieves fine. I was just thinking it'd be cool to do it

Anybody have the original pictures for the install? Seems that i-hacked.com didn't like the poster stealing the article.. but their site has those same images.

It's not about stealing the article per se', it's about directly linking to the images. That costs i-hacked bandwidth dollars.
Do you have a link to the i-hacked article? I can host the images... Someone will then need to find the original poster and have them update the main page.

Yes, I understand the bandwith stealing.. but earlier the same images (bandwith stealing) were displayed on i-hacked website as well. Seems that only one is up now, but it is not necessary. They are located here:

Now that my car computer is up and running, i'm starting on the XM side:
I am using my M10000's audio output as 5.1 audio, so I don't have a "line in" per say. What other options do I have to input the audio from this XM Direct universal tuner?
Also one more question - where can I find the 8 pin mini din plug? Please link me if radioshack or any other retail stores have it -- if not even an online store would be great.
Thanks,
Brett

Remote power pin?
From reading through this and other threads, sounds like powering the XM unit from the ACC line is preferable to the "always on" BATT line. Any chance that one of the two power pins (6 & 7) are a "remote" power line that lets you power the unit from the BATT line?
I'm planning to run the unit from the ACC line anyway (already fabricated the cable), but thought I would still ask.

"Remote" with the intent being, that the unit wouldn't power up unless the serial port went active or ???
There's no reason to run it from the BATT line... it'll just draw power. Given that you'll have other things powering up after you start the car (head unit, PC, amps, etc) then the XM box will have plenty of time to init before you'd expect to hear it.

Just like an amp. The "working" power comes from the BATT line, but the unit is only active if there is power on the "remote" line, regardless of whether there is any signal on the input lines (serial port in the XM case).
For some context, I was trying to minimize the number of loads on the +12V from the DC-DC power supply, hoping to rely on the BATT line as the working power, using a "remote" power-on signal from the +12V (or the "remote" out of the DC-DC). I later realized that I could just hook it up to the IGNITION line that goes into the DC-DC, so I get the same net results anyway. Which is why I posed the question as more of an informational one.
