so if I was to get this, I would still need an antenna and software?, btw, how are you guys able to mount it on the roof? with wire coming out of rear window, wouldn't that leave leaks?

Anwser.

Vehicles windows typically have flexiable weather stripping around each window.. and no leaks occur because this weather striipping prevents the leaks..

Software - Mappoint Active X embedded into my front end.

Antenna - Antenna

I haven't had much problems yet, but my front end isn't fully completed.

Do you mean the wire like the one in the attached pic, or are you talking about a different wire?

That link to the antenna isn't really pointing to an antenna, it's an integrated antenna/revceiver from garmin, which comes in different flavors (USB/Serial/TTL)...

sure it wasn't this one: http://www.gpscity.com/item-garmin-g...enna/ga27c.htm

Intella:
From what I can tell you only use 4 of the 8 wires that come off the 15L, right? 2 for power that I'll be getting off usb pins, and 2 going into the COM port 2. Is that correct, and if so, what are the other wires for? I will be (hopefully) installing this tomorrow if I can find something to use to connect the wires to the pins. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks again for the excellent writeup (which should really be a sticky so more people will know about the OEM route).
Cheers.
