V1 Virtual Display : Valentine One to PC via USB
I have been working on this for quite some time, but I have finally finished it. After abandoning the serial interface for several reasons I came up with this:
There may be some enhancements in the future, but for now this works great.
Connection: - The parts list for the connection is:
- 2 10k resistors
- 1 15k resistors
- 1 2.2k resistor
- 1 .033uF capacitor
- 1 +12V to +5V regulator (e.g.) 7805A
- 1 2A2904 transistor
- 1 USBMOD3 (the best price I found was at http://www.futurlec.com/USB.shtml )
- A 4 or 6 conductor modular phone jack (or you can rip apart a phone cord)
- A small enclosure (such as this ) to make things neat.
Look for the thread on the accompanying software in the software forum.

The valentine 1 is a radar detector, a very popular one... this displays its output on your carputer.

Awesome work zPilott!! I'll have to see if I can make this one work with my V1
Does the concealed display need to be attached in order to get the output signal?

Thanks for reminding me, I should have said this before. The current design works ONLY ON ITS OWN!!!!!!
DO NOT CONNECT THE REMOTE DISPLAY
(sorry about that, just wanted to make it clear that running a splitter and connecting the remote display MAY cause problems )
I am working on modifying things to allow for that, or for putting an in and an out jack on the board for connecting the remote display.

That's what I figured... just wanted to make sure
You can do what I did on one of Jim's designs and just put in a 2-pin jumper or single position DIP switch inbetween that resistor and +12V (or in this case, +5V). Not as elegant as an input/output port, but it works.

Hy,
Thx a lot.
I hope your schematics will work.
It's very nice, useful, and I really wait for the next update.
Thank you for the API too
Just need to order tomorrow the USBMOD3, 'cause my local store hadn't it, and ASAP I'll mount it and try it
PS : I didn't found drivers for PPC, do you think it already exists ? ( I know I would have to modify the schematics... )
Regards.

Hy again,
Could you just confirm me, that there's a mistake in the part list.
You wrote : 1 2A2904 transistor and on the schematics there's a 2N3904...
(2A2904 transistor doesn't seem to exist, so.... ).
So my local store send me a 2N2904, will it be good enough for it ?
Thank you
