110v or 220v AC to 12vDC converter

If I made a couple of these, would anyone be willing to buy them?

Basically, I use it to power my carputer usings its internal (12vdc) power supply, so when I bring it inside for development, I dont have to bother with connecting a standard ATX power supply.

It is somewhat similar to http://www.hobby-warehouse.com/in10ashepows.html in functionaliy (but not adjustable output).

Not sure the exact ampres out yet, but it will be at least 10

Price for such a unit would definately be <$50, Probably closer to $20 or $30.

If anyone is really interested, I can look into this and estimate the price better.

you can already buy power supplies that are designed to run car accessories indoors... typically used by HAM radio operators...

you can get them with 10-20 amps output for reasonable prices... so you'd have to at least beat the price of those... (do a google search for "13.8V supply") not trying to rain on your parade or anything, because if you CAN sell them for $20 or $30 then i'm sure you'll have little trouble finding buyers on here. (including myself, perhaps)

I am very interested for <$50 (if you can keep it small). I use those 13.8V 3A-5A's at work all the time. We also use 10A ones but they are HUGH weigh A TON and cost $100+.

7A should easily do it. The biggest requirement is small size and low heat.

I really want it set up so that the 110V-13.8V is inside my shuttle cube (along with my Carnetix 12V regulator) and on the back there is a standard PC plug connector (along with a seperate connector for car battery input). That way when I am visiting someone, I can simply pull my CarPC out of the trunk and plug it into their TV to show-off my huge DiVX library of movies and TV running a full-screen interface on their TV!

This is just a modified atx powersupply, so size and everything is that. Cost was going to be the price of the powersupply, plus my time (but not alot).

I dont think this is the solution you are looking for, sorry. Maybe try searching for a 1u atx power supply?

Well, in that case, have you ever heard of anyone making an ATX Y-Splitter with relays? I was thinking if the AC/DC is providing power, all of the ATX lines would be disconnected from the DC/DC, and if it is not then all of the ATX lines would be disconnected from it so the DC/DC can work and not blow up the AC/DC.

A switch (rather than relay) solution would be fine too, but where could I find a 2-position switch that can change all ATX lines (9 lines minimum) with enough amperage?
