I think forden is talking about the V1 Concealed Display.
If you search around the web you can find some pretty creative installs. Of couse, for the detector to work properly, you want it mounted as high as possible, and with little to no obstructions to the front or rear (radar detection can go through plastic/cloth, but metal defeats it, laser needs line of sight).
In my Z, I put it near the top of the hatchback, just under the 3rd brake light. Without a concealed display, it is really hard to operate. At night you cant tell it is there, and it is hard to see in the day. Because the car is low, it is hard for pedestrians to see it, unless then duck down and know where to look.
Having it installed here probably does narrow the field of view to the front a bit, but it has never been an issue for me (yet).
The V1 1Virtual display doesn't help you in hiding the V1, but, like the CD you are now free to mount the V1 in places that might not be so accessable. Unlike the CD, very few people will notice that you have a concealed display installed, even if they see it in operation.

I still need at least 5-10 more people to sign up before I can place an order, let me know if you are interested.

re,
Yes, by RA and CD, I mean Remote Audio and Concealed Display.
And as Zpilott wrote, there are some countries, such as here, where using RD (owning, selling, shipping ) is totally forbidden, so we really need to hide it...
CD is really helpful for stealth installs.
There are a lot of possibilities easily foundable on some websites, with a lot of pics, such as CD in air grid, or behind mirror, and if you've got a good pratice of electronics parts, you can "upgrade" your CD with your own LEDs in the dashboard, or near the speedometer for example...
Google is your friend )
PS : Zpilott : we often make come some V1 or accessories here, just put "electronic parts " + Gift on the package and duties won't see anything )

Hi,
Two friends and I are interested in three interfacing cables, though the price is a bit higher than expected. Anyway can you give reasonable assurance that they will work with Via m10000 boards? Being prototypes and considering the costs implied there's a certain level of risk we wouldn't like to accept just to take part in a Pilot.
Regards.

zPilot - I had mailed you but probably have to decline for now due to other ongoing projects. I'll still be following the thread with interest but I cannot do the pilot just now.

Wow, $65 seems like a lot for this adapter. Is it possible to build one myself?

I haven't come across any compatibility issues yet, it should work with any computer that supports USB 1.0+. I have applied for a unique driver ID, so there shouldn't be any conflicts with other devices on your system.
You might also want to download and install the latest version of the software. You can run it in skin view mode (right click on the notification icon) to make sure it works. It does require the .net framework, which some of you might not have installed.

Everyone who has signed up with me should have gotten an email. I am hoping to be able to place the order next week. If you are interested, it isn't too late, so check out http://www.ExitZer0.com and send me an email.
Thanks.

I managed to pull the information from my V1 using my sound input on my laptop. The signal goes rail-to-rail, and at 48Khz the sample rate is more than sufficient to capture the data.
I wrote a NMEA decoder a while ago based on the same idea 48khz = 10x 4800 baud - the original apple IIs used a bit-bang UART - and it was simple to adapt.
I'm also working on decoding J1850 data on the other channel.
