Can any one suggest simple way to coat electrically conductive optically transparent film/glue/epoxy on glass? where do I get such materail? any simple oxide of metal which when applied with some glue will work. May be less transparent

no it doesnt exist yet. You are welcome to try. The closest thing I can think of is a flexible OLED roll, but unless you are the government, you cannot afford it.

YOU CANNOT!!!! This is the film they are using in flexible paper right now. You would need that without the backing. And it can only be made in small sheets and in a research lab. It is not for sale you bafoon!

if you really want to do this, get 2 panes of glass, squezze some liquid crystal inbetween and stck some wires. Make it yourself. It is no tint. It is not easy. And it will be on/off only.

I think you're confused. OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Note the "Light Emitting" part and you'll quickly realize that any OLED film applied to your windows would really blow chunks.

I can just imagine driving down the road, the sun setting ahead of you, getting in your eyes. So you dial up the current to the OLED film on your windshield. Suddenly, you slam into the guardrail at 65mph because you forgot that OLED means you just turned your entire windshield into a wall of light.

I think you mean e-ink film. It uses charged, suspended capsules with different colors on each side of the charge. As the film layer is charged one way, the capsules rotate in suspension such that the desired color is rotated to the desired orientation. Even that stuff wouldn't work that great as a window tint. You'd still have major haze issues.

Frankly, I think the whole idea of DIY electric window tint is half-baked. I have enough problems with minor glitches in my CarPC. The last thing I need is a something that could cause all of my car windows to become totally opaque, simply because of some faulty PIC code, or a short, or a vibration induced component failure, or... You get my drift.

You wouldnt put it on your windshield! Unless you have a doctor note, it is illegal in the US anyways. I could be wrong about what the stuff is. I read about it on BBC a while ago. Basically it is a flexible, roll-up-able screen. I thoguht it used OLED to display a picture. But the part you want is the ffelxibility, not the colour quality. So you make a simple monochromatic single pixel mat. No power, not on, see through wth some tint. Turn it on, it goes black, cant see through. Never on the windshield!

As amatter of fact my intention is to coat glass pane with ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVRE & OPTICALLY TRANSPARENT WITH INK/GLUE/ADHESIVE whatever is available and put up LEDs between two such glass panes and light them up. The effect will be LEDs being lighted with hidden lectrical connection. Something like Indium Tin Oxide films are vailable but are costly and available to B2B companies. There exists some film(Flexible) caoted with some sort of conductive material. slightly transluscent, but I could not locate the supplier. I intent to put up such glass panes on Display windows of show case and not actually on car window.

Well if you are using this inside, then let people do it for you. Just go buy some "Smart Glass". It is widely available. It is not for the car, hence why we keep saying it doesnt exist yet.

So when I read the title I thought it was this really sweet idea I had for an LCD windshield (not the new color kind, i'm talking like a giant version of what's on my TI-83) where you use a webcam + carputer to selectively dim parts of the windshield.

i havent read through all of these postings yet, but wouldnt have all the windows made of quartz work? i know that would be very very pricey. just a thought.

Holy crap... I can't believe this thread is still going on... LOL!

A few years back I did the research on this already. I've been in contact with Florida's Electronic Privacy Glass manufacturer. I asked them what is possible:

Electronic Privacy glass can be made in any shape, almost any curvature, and any size.
It can be made in normal integrity or bullet-proof.
It can be made in variances or just on/off. (Yes it can be done in shades!)
It can be made in a few colors. (If I recall, it was silver, black and puter.)
It IS a film, however the film cannot be used as a film. It must be molded and melted into 2 pains of glass (as all Liquid Quartz needs).
It cannot be made into the front windshield glass on your car. It is illegal as it must pass safety-glass standards and will not with this film in it.
When the power is applied to the film, the film becomes clear. Without power, the films opacity is at 100%.
The film is low voltage/amps so you can easily setup back up power in-case the car looses power.

I hope this clears everything up.

I am have been tinkering with "Novelty" License plate frame's (photo radar is getting out of hand here in AZ) And this sounds very promising. Forget solenoids and gear's "black out" is way better. Do they make any glass that is 12volt?Is it exspensive? Do you have their info?
