I don't know if I like the looks of that. It looks like anyone can view your phone location? Am I reading that right?

And its only for Nextel phones. Bummer. I still haven't gotten the GPS feature of my mm-8300 to work yet.

yes it only works sith Java enabled NEXTEL phone, its not too expensive considering the added security feature for your car:
"new "pay as you go" color GPS enabled phone for under $80 ($59 for a i285 or $79 for a i415) at BestBuy or Target. A $20 Boost card will let you upload points for almost 4 months. Dirt cheap for some cool, useful and really fun tech."

i think anyone can view your location if you sign up for free registration. maybe someone here could figure out how to set this up on our own servers?

That's what I want. I want to be able to log on to a secure area of my own site, and see where my phone/car is.

I'm guessing that the software has to be running on the phone in order to see the location, right? Or is it an automatic thing?

i believe the software has to be running on the phone in order for it to work. im not sure how it works exactly, im thinking it uses the on board GPS chip to send coordinates to the server via text messages/emails. Then the program on the server maps those coordinates when you login. If someone could figure out how to redirect the signals to our own servers, we should be golden.
