Well, I received mine today from mouser... have not yet connected an external antenna but results driving around with the little wire hanging off of it weren't too bad. Going to get parts perhaps tomorrow and connect to my oem antenna in the truck and see what happens - if we're good then bye-bye head unit, hello "stock-look" dash LCD!!! (with some work of course)

I'm in Atlanta and live by my radio - the only reason I've put off getting rid of the HU. Hopefully this solves that.

Got mine from mouser a while back and finally got an antenna socket from Fry's yesterday (I just bought the 18" generic antenna extension cord for $3). Cut the pointy end off and soldered the ground shield into the big hole next to the antenna hole (on the little USB card). Both the antenna signal wire and the ground wire (all twisted together) fit quite nicely. Anyway, I plugged it into my labtop and the antenna in my f150 and it works GREAT!
I can't imagine anyone needing to go further for a radio. As soon as all the good frontends' support improves, i think we'll have a real winner. No need to go through all the trouble of the HQCT module if you ask me.

I second what grayvader has said above really. IM using it connected to my car aerial and the quality is fine, im using it in streetdeck and the integration isnt too bad either! (Especially for 1 £10 card!)

CRAP!

Well I went out this weekend to do a lot of stuff on my install, part of which was to connect this to the factory aerial. Here's a pic of my soldering job which I thought was pretty good honestly.

I thought it was all good but sometime about an hour after I did it it stopped working, must be a cold joint or something.

Soo - I;'ve got to go back and fix it next weekend (I'm assuming it's a bad solder and that I didn't ruin the board) before I can test results.

I did sheild left and center right - that's correct isn't it? Sort of odd since the PCB doesn't have a trace to the pad that I soldered the sheild to?!?!

Bj/Iceman - any advice?

Thanks!

Yep. I've had an occasional issue(read: like twice in the last 3 weeks) but simply tune to another station and back and you're golden. Doesn't lock up or anything or need a reset.

Cool, sounds good. The ADS Tech radio is constructed in the same way, so it also supports hibernate? (Silabs Programm works with ADS Tech Radio).

I cant find a shop which sells the silabs in germany (without 15$ shipping) so i hope the ads tech work also.

Don't know enough about the ADS to say for sure but I don't imagine it will have any issues. You can always use software to disable the USB device causing issues before hibernating - I forget the name but it's pretty common on this forum...
