Question

Foldesa,
i am testing your design, i make my PCB with your design but i get only a noisy sound, it has sound at the spdif output but with a high pitch noise, the noise is bigger than the music
wich capacitor gives problem to you?

This connection is "only" analog to spdif. It doesen't have the emulator part. This is done a long time ago, and it was easy as I got the info on this forum.

In a few days I will post the schematics of the complete board ( spdif+emulator ) and the hex for the pic also. Maybe this could be shown on the TLCDCEmu sourceforge page ?

The spdif.txt file attached isn't txt. It is a pcb file and you can view it with express pcb software. You can download it for free.

Mmmh, I'm not the author of this schematics, but let's see if I can help...

Followin are my doubts:

A) "Do not mount C1 (pin 1-3)". I guess it refers to pins 1-3 of MAX232 according to MAX232 datasheet. Should I mount the remaining capacitors (C2, C2, C4 & C5)?

Yes / Yes
Quote:
B) Which pin number of the MAX232 should I use here?
C) Which pin number of the MAX232 should I use here?
D) Which pin number of the MAX232 should I use here?
E) Which pin number of the MAX232 should I use here?

If you have the exact MAX232 and not a variant, see top of page 17 of the data-sheet.
B is a Tx input, so use T1in on pin 11
C is the output of the same Tx, so use T1out on pin 14
D is a Rx output, so use R1out on pin 12
E is the input of the same Rx, so use R1in on pin 13

F) I don't understand GP23. What does it mean?
G) "MAX232, V+ connect to 12V battery when programmin PIC". Can I use a stabilized power supply (with and 78L12 voltage regulator) instead of a 12V battery?

I have ideas on this, but I'd prefer Ale to explain this to be sure not to fry anything... Ale ?

Thanks in advance,

Here the answer for the remaining doubts:

F) the GP23 is a small alcaline battery of 12V that I use for programming PIC. In this circuit I use a MAx Tx driver to convert 0-5V of the LPT1 to a 0-12V signal needed by the 16F688 to enter the programming mode.
It need at least 10.5-11V on pin MCLR(pin4) to enter programming mode, and the internal voltage doubler of MAX232 give less than 10V, so I tied the V+ pin to this battery, and the doubler capacitor C1 is not needed anymore.
G) Sure the regulator 78L12 can be used insead of the battery without problem.

In normal running mode the MCLR is left open, the internall pullup provide the correct +5V level.

Bye
Ale

Have anyone thaught of using a divx player instead of portable computer? It has SPDIF out, it is low cost and it can be easily controller by simulating remote controll.

Hi Everyone!
I think I found another way to enable "input" in Cabasse TunerList amplituner.
Car Radio Digital Signal Processor Philips Saa7708H used in this unit, has two digital spdif inputs. Spdif1 (pin25) is used by additional cd changer and, as we all know to eneble it we have to have cdc or an adapter. But spdif2 (pin24) is used by internal cd drive of HU, and this one input is always enabled when compact disc is inserted. So we can use the same circuit with relay like Vince used, but we don't need cdc and any cdc emulators.
I would like to add some pictures, but I don't where is this option at this forum.

Go to the bottom of the page and look under the Quick Reply message window, you'll find 2 buttons, choose Go Advanced. Now you get a new window to reply to the thread, use the insert image button in the toolbar to insert images in your text.

Hello, Sorry to go slightly of subject, I've recently purchase the update list CD player to replace my tuner list, however the display and stalk controls don't work. Does anyone know why this is and is there a work around to resolve this. I have a 2002 Megane and the update list CD player came out of a 2004 Megane. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, that's smart...
Well, of course, it probably doesn't qualify for "best no-modification solution" but if it's your car, why not ?
I guess you could also have cut the ribbon cable and put an A/B switch or relay to be able to keep standard CD functionality at will, or are there components between the ribbon cable and the chip ?
I guess a similar trick could be used on other models as well...

No idea. Maybe you should turn to Renault specific forums where car dealers and experts hang around. For French-speaking forums, I'd suggest http://www.planeterenault.com
