Putput,
I think I have blown that input using my dvd player. I switched it on whilst plugged in and there was a big thump through the speakers and since then the sound has been distorted and dull. Anything I can do to fix this or is the aux input ruined?
Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,
I'm afraid that there's nothing you can do about it. I had the same problem due to static electricity. I managed to get a new HU via my car dealer, I told him that the HU was defect, let him listen to the distorted sound, and he agreed that the unit was broken. Because my car was still under warranty I got a new HU for free. Perhaps you can try the same trick. Hope that he doesn't read this thread.
If you do receive a new HU and you still have the (oo) to try it again; make sure that you connect the ground on your DVD player first before you make any other connection to the HU. This works for me every time, my carPC is connected to a ground wire in my car and since then no more problems.
Good luck!

progress with Radiosat 6010 / 22dc462
Hi Guys,
I finally got hold of a RC026 CD changer, at least for a few weeks. I've been hacking around a little, and have snooped some data.
Protocol is indeed async dual rail. When the HU is on, D2B+ and - float up to ca. 2.5V (2.48V for those who like it precise). A voltage difference of 200mV seems to code a 0, and no V difference = 1. I find this quite strange, as one would expect a robust comm's protocol to be based on current loop signaling. Esp. since cars generally enjoy their share of em noise from the spark plugs. I put 10Ohm in the way, and found current levels to be .2mA quiescent and about 2-4mA when signalling.
Protocol-wise there is one long start bit, then 13 address bits with a slow-ish period, then (strangely) the subsequent comms go about 1.5 times faster. Next, 14 bits sender address, then a spacer 5 bits.
Subsequent data/ commands are in 10 bit packages, 8 for saying things, 1 as terminator, 1 odd parity bit.
At least for the Radiosat 6010 the CD player doesn't seem to transmit track lengths, so one can get away with emulating a 1-TR-99minute (or so) CD.
Anyways, more to follow soon. I have some more data for analysis.
VICNE - Do you want to include these in the Sourceforge project? May I email you to the email address quoted in the SF project, or is that a black hole?
Anyone else - I'll analyse my way through some more data myself, but any help and opinions appreciated!

Wow, impressive work.

Yes, of course.
Although, while work is still in early stages, it's probably best to keep work in progress in this thread (or in another one if you feel this one is too large already) and simply point interested people from the sourceforge site to this thread.
Once something consistent is ready (schemas, software), it could for sure be hosted on sourceforge too.

Well, the SF e-mail should be rerouted to one of my actual accounts, but I just tested and it doesn't seem reliable (or is awfully slow). I am subscribed to this thread but you can write directly to my gmail.com account as "vicnevicne"
Keep on the good work !

PIC-based emulator
Hi, All!
I try build PIC-based emulator and have a few questions.
For programming PIC I planed use a Winpic. That Interface Type and/or Custom interface definition file I must select in Winpic for programming pic in this schematics (Ale)?
Best regards, Andre.

It is very simple
Hi everyone,
I would like to replay to jorgenuno04 problem of connect his mp3 player to Head unit.
All you have to do is take the head unit out and make sure that your Renault Head unit has Tuner list or Update List at the bottom right hand side. My renault megan is 55 plate.
Next to the yellow block u will see an empty block, all you do is using 2 cocodile chips grip the first left clip (10) and then the first right clip (11) - download the pdf manual that is provide by putput.
Once u have clip them take you phone lead and attched the wire to them for left and right speaks. (TIP: take the unit under the head unti off by pulling it out comes off quick then make a small hole i did mine near the clip so u can drag your phone lead out it looks nice )
Once u have done everything put the head unit back all you should have is your phone lead out.
Then turn your unit on and press Expert which is the music key till you get aux your head display and turn it on by using you volume up and down or left or right key normally the aux is turn off turn it back on. Using the src button choose aux, once u have done that stick your mp3 play on the lead and you should hear your music ..
I am making a video off this and going to put it on youtube I will let you know when i had done that!!
I hope the instruction that i provided is easy 2 follow if not e-mail me maxchadbury@yahoo.co.uk -- PLEASE NO SPAM ----
(Yellow block 4 stering control, the other 2 R 4 power to the speaker and something else)

I want to buy one from ebay, but it says UPDATE LIST on it? will it match my steering wheel controls?
the first image is what i have, and and the second is what i want to get.

Renault "Tuner List" Head Unit/CD changer hacking
Hi Petri,
In respone to your question:
1) What car have you got? I am assuming that you have a reanult car.
2) You should buy from ebay the head unit with UPDATE LIST because it will match with your Renault stering wheel provided you match the cable right.
3) You should download the pdf manual that is provide by putput, it makes the wiring easy to follow.
If YOU have anymore question please e-mail me !!

Display and Stalk Control Interfaces
I would like to know if someone has any information on the interface between the update list unit and the display. Specially the physical layer. I've read that the interface has changed. Is it CAN nowadays? I want to use it to control and display iPod Information.
Thank you,

Hi everibody.
Some posts ago, i read about sending text data to dashboard lcd..
Sure it can't be done through CDC connector, but i believe it is possible through the connection between the HU and the dashboard lcd itself (because usually the lcd writes radio-data text while listening to a fm radi ostation).
Assuming I have the pinout of the connector (i got a '01 clio) and a pc, how can i send text (i.e. mp3 id3 tags, and so on..) to it? Someone knows??
I think it should be done (if possibile) using a com or a parallel port and some software (like a winamp plugin..)..
any help please??
Thanks
