Just chiming in, I haven't given up by any means, just been too busy with work stuff and some health issues.
Plus I've always been the type to swap projects around. I'll make a lot of progress on something, then swap to another languishing project. Maybe that's why everything takes so damn long.
Like my front-end. Wrote most of it in a couple days, and I haven't been able to touch it since.

Not at all at the moment. Don't know if I mentioned it or not, but someone finally cracked the ECU for my car. I need to pick up the cable and figure out the protocol. On the plus side, instead of the 10-15 samples per second over OBDII, I'll be able to get over 250 a second and more data to boot.
Oh yeah, you can also reprogram the car

for projector DIY, i have been looking around , and found that some casio pocket tv's with 2.2 inxh screens do have A/V input jacks
http://ftp.casio.co.jp/pub/world_man...80_900_ESF.pdf
why is that news, cause if you want to play around you can pick up used one on ebay in working condition betwen 15-25 USD shipped
that's what i am doing, BTW Genesis, wjat would recommend besides I-Visor for see though display, my brother was interested, aslo what components are in i-visors?

If it's like the one I have, the picture isn't nearly as good as the nitemax.

anything that uses a micro display. I wanted to finish this project off first and then deal with that as the paintball skirmish passed back in july and i wouldn't be able to attend. All in all it needs RCA input and a resolution that's decent enough to be seen like a big screen tv. VGA would be nice to attach a computer to, but as pocket PCs showed, you can have a considerable amount of information displayed on qvga screens.
As for this project, i'm just waiting for a few things to be shipped to me.
Th nitemax ccds are almsot VGA (a few pixels off) so i would say stick with that one. No TV screen at 2.5" has that quality

32 pages is too much...noob.
We are basically trying to created an HUD on the windshield of the car. e worked out many things, but still have the reflection/projection issie to work out. We ar far more ahead than any other previous attempts, i'm pleased to say.
The key thing I've learened thus far is not only is it doable, it will be rather cheap to implement
There are many pics, but here are two i took

be cool for pinpointing license plates /road signs.....etc
