Got a faulty motorised screen, can i use it?

Hi. I saw on ebay the perfect auction. An in dash radio with a motorisedscreen that was faulty. I bought it for £30.

When turned on, the radio seems to work, but when you try and open the screen it slides out and carries on trying to slide out, never fliping up.

So i figured it was the button that tells it when it's fuly out. It was, i changed it, and it worked. The screen slides out and folds up, but it doesn't fold up to the same place everytime.Opened it up again and did something, now it doesn't turn on at all. I get no response.

I'm thinking there must be a way to use the whole mechanism as it is without the circuit board in there at hte moment.

There's a switch that tells it when it's fully slided in, slided out. There's a switch that lets it know when the screen is folded down ready to slide back in, and a switch that tells it if the monitor is swivelled or not (it cn't slide back in when it's swivelled).

The two motors for sliding and fliping are the same and work fine with anything from as little as 5 V to 10V (although 10V seems a bit to harsh for the mechanism).

What would be the best way to make a circuit for this? can it be done with just relays? or do i need to use a micro processor?

I know it will be complicated with all teh switches but it must be doable. I'm thinking a button to open or close it, and two buttons for tilt (which are easy, they can just link to the flipping motor).

Is there a flat cable ?

Between the display and main board? Maybe it has faulty cable which is getting worse? I had that on my Kenwood KDC 6010 stereo. Part cost me only about $20 and that is NZ Dollars. Labour was free as I did it myself. While I tried to find hidden screws I managed to crack the window on the display and it shows and dust gets in so there goes the resale value. Hidden screws were on the other side under the sticker which hides the faceplate.
