that's what happens when stuff like this pops up.... this is exacly how those xm pcr things got so outta hand at one point

you know, not to be a downer to anyone here, but you do realize that you can get like laptop motherboards & stuff at speeds like this comperable for not much more $$$ WITHOUT all the hacking, & impossible soldering.... & all the other "issues" that go along with this...

just a thought....

Cheaper to pickup a P4 HP e-PC for $50 with all the goodies already in.

This also happened to that sony psone screen hack. It appear cheap at the time but it was a complete waste of time in the end.

True, at least with this hack you won't need to pay for a subscription (like the whole pcr thing).

I don't know - seems like a lot of work for something that's not all that impressive. Even if you try soldering on a VGA port, doesn't look like anyone got it to work very well.

Has anyone come across info/someone getting it to work?

I guess it's something cool to tool around with if you have spare time.

Maybe for you, but I used one in my car for almost 3 years for my carPC. Cheapest VGA touchscreen I've ever owned.

Yes for me, it was. It only work on some VGA cards, cant even see anything until windows boots up which make it hard to diagnose or get into the BIOS setup. Right now its just collecting dust

Touch screen? where did you get the touch screen and how much?

Where else than DigitalWW... got a 5.4" overlay w/USB controller. Think it was around $90. Had my local glass shop shave it down a bit, cause it's quite a bit bigger than 5.4".

But even with all that, I think the dang thing only cost $160 total when I was done. And that was with a replacement touchscreen, I broke the first one trying to cut the glass myself. With a belt sander.

I'm an idiot when it comes to glass.

Damn that's crazy. And I thought $99 was expensive for one... That's how much retail used to be here. I picked mine up off ebay for around $40. Then a few months ago, I bought 5 of 'em for about $15 a piece.
