2nd time this week. I figured someone would outbid me, as they always do. So far I've ended up with this device for $30 and a 10.4" dropdown LCD TV for $75. Guess I'll have to figure out what to do with them now...

Why bid if you don't really want the stuff?
Bid sniping is the way to go. Even the eBay management admit it.

any one still has a copy of the wiki entry on how to install linux on the msntv2?
the entry currently seems unavailable and I have a devious plan for this thing, even though it has nothing to do with carputers ...
If you do have it and care to share, leave me a PM and I'll send you my
e-mail addy :-)
Sincerely,
Jurgen

You can get them for free from Maxim's site. Click under samples. I think at the beginning of the post there was a link for a zipped file with everything you need. I can dig up the zip file if you need it. PM me.

No room in my car. Guess they'll have to go in the wife's. Damn my luck.
So is there any new progress on this device or has it died down? I'm just not sure my wife is ready for a linux based carpc. It would be great if someone figured out how to get windows to run nativley. Seems like the BIOS is the problem now.

If you could get a good front end going on linux it wouldn't matter what was running in the background, your wife would never have to deal with linux. It might even be better on linux then... more stable, less likely to need her to work with the OS.

Yeah I was right.
So, right click my computer, go to properties and device manager.
Then click the + on your Ports (COM & LPT) and where you see com port 1 (not LPT) right click it and go to properties.
Default on mine is 9600 baud (under port settings) as you can see in the pic you can drop that down and change it to whatever you like
