need xm help

i have a xmd1000, i think that is the model number, anyway i am connecting it to the computer with a serial cable, i have triple checked the cable and the connections are all correct according to the guide

and the problem is i cant get any music or anything, i tried checking the port with hyperterminal but it shows nothing

i have tried frodoplayer and roadrunner

is there anything you guys can tell me to check or do you think that the xm box is dead ?
