Ron the IBUS is an absolute necessity as all the communication is being done thru this bus. What we are doing is creating the I-BUS outside of a BMW by using rolf's interface and then using this bus to communicate with the DICE unit. The I-BUS is actually a serial data interface where the data line needs to be pulled up to 12V and that is why we need the resistor to pull up the data line.
Also, multiple people have posted that they will be willing to contribute if someone can get this to work. I am very close to getting it done and if those people can paypal me the contributions to get a DICE unit I think I could get this done in a week or so. If anyone is interested in contributing please PM me. I would love to see to get this done but unfortunately without contributions there is no way I can get a DICE unit until next month. Ofcourse, unless Ron send's me his.

As suggested by CaliM5, I am starting a list with names of people willing to contribute to see this get done. I do not want people sending me the money if we cannot get this list up to a minimum of $200. Once the list reaches $200 I will need the people to paypal me the money so I can get a unit and get cracking on the software. Anyone who is willing to contribute please either post a message with the amount and I will add it to the list or PM me if you want it to be anonymous.
The list as of now:
xtremak (me) : $50
Kamakazie2 : $25
CaliM5 : $25
JW™ : $25
rcubed3r : $25
----------------------------
Total : $150.00

Here at Mp3Car we have been working on our own HD radio since last summer. We hope to beat the Radio Shark HD to market. Also, ours will be designed for the automotive environment rather then home/office use. I'll post more details in another thread to follow. Here's a tease:

Alright, I just got the video of the software being run on my friend's dice unit. It's a little teaser for things to come with the software, hopefully this will help with encouraging people to contribute. If I can order the unit by the end of today I will have it before the weekend so that I can get the software done by the weekend.

This information would have been helpful maybe from last summer? But since I had no idea you had been working on a unit since last summer, and I already paid money for the HD Radio unit, I do not have a choice but to see this to the end.
Unless of course, I can return the Dice unit I bought, and the unit you will be selling will be ready by summer.

does this plan to be native to RR and easily skinnable? If so, put me down for 100.

Well I already have RR support down, so that the app can send / receive commands from RR and send RDS info to RR. As far as being native, I am not sure what you are asking.
If your'e asking will this eventually make it into the RR source then the answer is no. It will be a standalone app like any of the IBUS programs already on the forums but will have the ability to communicate back and forth with RR from any skin file as long as the right commands are sent using SENDMSG from the skin to the app. Also, the app will set the 'rdstext' variable in RR so that you can display it as a label on any skin. I do plan to make this easily skinnable and may end up using RR's skin interface. But the near term concern is to get a basic working app out there so everyone who has already invested in a DICE unit can use their units ASAP.
If you are still interested in contributing let me know and I will PM you the paypal info as your contribution will put us over the $200 mark and thats all I need to get the unit and get cracking.

My thoughts here...
This needs to eventually get to the point where it works just like it's native to RR, whether via a plug-in, or send keys, or something, so we can get auto muting and such to function properly.
Currently RR supports the following natively: D-Link, Cinergy 600, WinTV, HQCT, Blaupunkt, Radio Shark 1, and Radiator.
I'm just trying to think of a way we can use the existing radio skins that have been created, and not have to create matching skins for another app.
This might not work though if all the features of the DICE unit are implemented, specifically the Ipod port, as that functionality would not be present in any current radio skin.
The MP3Car HD radio will probably be natively added to RR, and I would bet Radio Shark 2 and Radio Shark HD will eventually make it.
I also wonder if Radio Shark HD will ever see the light of day. One of the radio shark's main selling points is the ability to record broadcasts, the RIAA is not going to like this with HD radio, remember the stink that was made about the XMPCR when other apps came out that could use it to record. HD radio sounds A LOT better than satellite radio.
There is just now a HD radio product that has a USB port, but it is for firmware updates only. Ibiquity has kept them from adding any kind of PC control at all to the USB port.
Sorry, starting to ramble...

Radiosharks reception stinks, and they took soo long for the original to be released. I dont know if i could trust another product from them. As far as RR interface, im sure we can get native support once were done and Guino releases a new version. Regardless of what comes out i am going to stick with the Dice unit because i know the reception both HD and non hd is what i am looking for.
In all honesty all were doing is sending hex strings to the comp port.. i cant imagine that being too hard to incorporate into RR. It cant be any worse than the horrible HQCT integration.

Well I can write a small hacked up program which will allow RR to use the current HQCT interface and allow control on the DICE unit. It will be similar in function to the CPCTuner interface that has been written by Putput (i.e when RR calls the rrhqct.exe it will launch my program and pipe all command thru to my program instead of the actual HQCT module) this way nothing additional will need to be done except when the user wants to use the added functionality all he needs to do is use SENDMSG to my app directly.
Ces///M3, please let me know if you are still willing to contribute.
