Waterproofing and conformal coating

Techspray makes a conformal coating that I think would work well but its hard to find and kind of expensive.

Has anyone come up with a more homemade solution or alternative solution?

I've been thinking about the possibility of picking up at the hardware store a lacquer or even some of that silicone dip product intended for tool handles

No idea, but I've heard of people using boeshield to dry out submerged laptops with luck, I know it will not cause short circuits and I imagine the film would last a long time not being actually exposed.

They actually now list "Electronic Circuits" under automotive usage... hmm
