Behringer DCX2496 -- dc power supply

for those of you that are interested in an alternative to the h701 this may be up your alley:
http://www.behringer.com/DCX2496/index.cfm?lang=eng
with this mod:
http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...ad.php?t=19371

just thought id throw it out there. btw, the behringer has a spdif input. the chassis looks big but i'm sure you could hack it apart and condense it. hell, talk to veritas_forge and he could probably make a custom case for it

how small do you think you could get that behringer if you took it out of the case? do you have a top down of all the components inside the case? do you need to have the front panel connected to have the unit work? (wont need that since i'll have a pc)

the owners manual states spdif input so i'd contact them before you go this route, but this link may help you:
http://www.rane.com/note149.html
or this:

You would need either the box linked on ebay, or the instructions in the document from RANE, as the input on the Behringer is an AES/EBU and not straight SPDIF.

So..what he said.

Thanks, Durwood. I was in the process of asking them about this when someone already posted to the forum.

the manual says it's straight s/pdif too though... i wonder if a simple cable would actually work.
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/K2Digi/#anchor

i think it has something to do with the new chipsets can actually handle the lesser signal of s/pdif as well as still handling aes. I have been researching this a bit now :-)
