ah, i see. i have lost interest in sq competitions with a car computer for now, mostly because of the extra cost that i can't afford right now (my kicker cvr's in a box thats way too small, and pioneer component tweeters that aren't good for anything but factory replacements). i might think of competing later, but for now, i am the only judge of my cars sound system.

i can definatly see an issue with taking the audio off the onboard driver for a sq setup, and while i have not heard a difference, i will believe you when you say that asio has better quality output--it could be my poor setup that is limiting me.

For me is reversed. I usualy set sub to minimum and use it only to fill range under 63Hz All other range play my front system and I don't like to much bass...

Today Im remove my minipci express UMTS card and will see if I will have crackling/pooping or no... Also Im switch sample rate to 96kHz/24Bit.

As Im say Im hear diference in my audio setup beetween DirectSound and ASIO4ALL too. I have system which can be used for SQ competition(Audison VRx amp's, Hertz Mille speakers...) but I make it for myself...

sound quality solution...

go to ebay and
1.get an audigy 2zs or xfi etrememusic.
2.get an pci flex adapter.

3.go to google and find a plugin for winamp called "volume logic" this will actively will take care of your compressed music problems, like ones ore loud the others are low volume; you will not be sorry.

remember: onboard sound is not as powerful as a dedicated sound processor plus you will take load off the cpu also.

let me know if you need more help.

My computer doesn't like pci adapters-it refuses to post once their installed.

After looking over the reviews for the plugin you recommended, I really don't think it is very good at all. It looks like it has not been supported since 2005, and some users have reported fatigue after extended listening sessions- a sign that it is creating psychoacoustics- ie. Tricking the brain into thinking it is hearing something it is not.

There was also a review by a sound expert- who listed exactly what the software does: it makes certain frequencies louder, and others softer, IMO, ruining the audio(ESP. Since it is only a 5 band eq). I really don't think that program could be used in a true sq type install- I think it's deficiencies would be immediatly apparent.

Im not shure for who are you write this post but this "solution" is not acceptable...
1.) audigy 2zs or xfi etrememusic are not SQ sound card.
3.)Are you kidding? Who use WinAmp in car? Many of users use some frontend which is user friendly and optimized for touchscreen... Win amp is good for listening mp3's or any other compressed music at home when you have mouse and keyboard, but for SQ you have alternative players...

Road Runner uses Winamp in the background for playing music.

Im think that RR use own media engine, but because I don't use there is no need for thi plugin

I think I will risk and buy/try Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 HiFi or maybe M-Audio Delta 1010LT and see how work...
