durwood, can you explain what these plugins are for exactly?

is the first one just a 10band EQ?

I am not for sure YET. I won't get a chance to try them out until Thursday hopefully. From what I was reading, I thought there were crossver plugins inside the UFX package. I might be wrong. I really can't say. I think there is a parameteric EQ in there as well as the pointless 10 band.

The thread is extremely long 15 pages worth and not really any mention of features More details to come...

if I'm not mistaken, it will need to be used in a player that can take VST plugins.

Try this...

http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=146317

EDIT: This VST Winamp Bridge Allows you to load a single vst plugin such as the 31 band EQ on the first page of this post. I tested it and it worked. If you read through the reviews someone mentions some vst stacker plugings that you could use to laod more than one vst plugin for winamp.

I had a close look at the KX driver DSP programming tutorial. I'll have to do more study, but it appears that I can program 2nd / 4th order Crossover, as well as 31 band EQ (I don't see wny you can't have n-band EQ).

What I am particularly interested in, is a Parametric EQ. In home audio and recording, the parametric EQ is usually regarded as more useful tool than fixed frequency EQ. By the time you punch in 5-6 PEQ's, you can have far more control than a 31 band EQ. But I am not very sure how I'd program PEQ in custom KX plug in.

The 2nd and 4th order crossovers AND parametric EQ should be in the UFX package. There was a thread in driverhaven about a 31 band EQ for car use, but a few agreed that there might not be enough resources to process that many bands within the sound card alone. From what I remember from my DSP programming, even a simple EQ requires many resources from the DSP chip used.

that would be why most of the programs require some pretty hefty processors.
do you happen to have that link to the driver haven discussion?

Here it is...see post 12. The guy who programmed the UFX plugins is in that discussion as well.

http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=120473

It sounded like you could string the 5 band parametric EQ together. (Or you could use the 31 band VST pluging with Winamp.) Its not one complete software soultion but at least I am rethinking my use of the Alpine processor again. Dammit!

Wow damn durwood, I give you the noob award of the year. Since you got here youre full of information, im lovin it. That VST plugin and that 31 band EQ just made my day, its so much better than the 4front eq which was like 10band 1 octave. This winamp eq will do all my equalizing. I wont use any artificial boosts or anything. Just to get it as flat as possible (link to tune) as I know I have some overlapping frequencies with my component sets... I havent even heard it yet and I know im gonna need some tuning. But once is all said and done its gonna be awesome. Plus with that line driver you sold me, I should have excellent efficiency
