carnetix to power a laptop as well as charge its battery?

I recently installed a carnetix p-2140 PSU and connected it to my HP nc2400's AC adapter. As mentioned in previous threads on powering laptops using the carnetix PSU some laptop AC adapter have three wires. When I tested the three wires with a multimeter I have a ground, a +5, and a +19. I am able to utilize the p-2140 to successfully power my laptop(+20 on primary out for the docking station), and External 600GB Hard drive(+12 on the secondary out). Is there anyone utilizing a carnetix to power a laptop as well as charge its battery?

My current setup:
2005 Camry LE
RoadRunner 12/08 with DigitalFX 4.0 Front End
HP nc2400 1.8ghz, 60gb HD, 2gb ram with docking station
Lilliput Eby-701 mounted with a e-byte Double-din Dash kit
Carnetix p-2140 PSU
600gb WD Mybook
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard
Logictech Trackball
JVC HU with Aux-in connected to carputer
MTX Thunder 7804
12" 1200 Watt Pyle subwoofer
Viper 5900 Alarm with Motion Detection (NYC Must)

Future Plans:

Fabricate a Bezel
PAC steering Wheel control
HDTV
back-up Camera
Possible 2nd Roof mounted Screen for the rear passengers

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you have the Carnetix powering the +5, the +19 and ground into the laptop? If so, it ought to function just like it did when connected to the AC adaptor, including charging the battery.

WarDriver is on a distinguished road
I'm guessing your laptop cannot recognize the power input and is directing all the power to the system board and not charging the battery....and having a built in ups is a big plus... I think some manufacturers can bypass this setting in the bios -not sure if you HP has the capability of that or not.

May I ask why you chose to go with the carnetix for a laptop?

Wardriver The carnetix is currently supplying +12(for my external hard drive, and +19 and ground (to the laptop). I would probably need the additional device that supplies and third output to send the +5v to that third wire but .. again Im not 100% sure it would solve my issue.

Bugbyte:

The laptop is working just fine connected to the carnetix. I will probably solder the start-up/shut-down wire soon just trying to figure out how I can make it plug in and plug out. like some sort of male-female connector soldered to the docking station just in case.

May I ask why you chose to go with the carnetix for a laptop?

because after my numerous searches of carputers setup that utilized laptops the carnetix was the highly recommended solution to power a laptop, as well as power the Touch Screen. Although I contemplated installing a POL to supply +12 to the TS LCD, and the Ext HD. It seemed like the best bang for the buck solution

BTW Happy New year guys

you're talking about the HP barrel plug? I tried to hook up my TC4400 using the 19v and 5v as well as gnd, but it did not work properly... ran veeeery slow. The '5v' is a floating number as it's more of an ID for the adapter so that the computer runs properly. Lenovo and Dell have a similar thing.

I just picked up an air/auto adapter that I'm going to be connecting to my CNX-1900 on the 12v rail rather than plugging in to the cig lighter.
