Nice work on V2, it seems to be well coded with no bugs that I've seen so far, it does what it does well.

Will be great to see what sort of extras and addons a dedicated site will bring.

Playing around has raised a few questions:
Playing a song on startup is great, however it seems to play the same song every time which is a little repetitive. I don't see a way to change this? My current head unit will resume the song wherever you turned the car off.
Is it possible to get the V1 theme onto V2?
The video player still only lists *.avi videos, won't show .mpg/.mpeg/.mkv/etc
Not being able to fast forward through MP3's made me cry :'(

Seems to be a good leap in the right direction, looking forward to what other users find in V2

I really like this release! It's a great step forward for the Mac in the car.

Do the OBDII and XM buttons work? I've only tested it on my home machine so far.

If you go to General in the preferences, you will see "Playback ****** on wake". By clicking the ***** (which is a button) it will cycle through 4 options, Normal, Random, Resume and Off. Normal plays the first track in the library. Random plays a random song. Resume is like your head unit. Off is of course no playback on startup.

I have made a theme based on v1 and named it Classic. This will be available on the website.

At the moment .avi, .mov, .m4v and .mp4 are the only video formats supported.

Not yet. At the moment it is purely a media player. As soon as the community is happy with the media side, we will move onto OBDII, GPS, XM etc.

Really liking what i see so far! This is awesome progress on the mac car frontend area. The two issues for me are the massive amounts of memory ICE consumes when i have it load all my music (Around 800mb or physical memory it took last time), and not being able to seek through songs currently playing.

This looks excellent though! Thanks for the great app.

ok, here's my thoughts on V2...

I like it, new options are great!

however, here's some things I have noticed:

1. When choosing songs from the "covers" side of the main menu, they skip really bad, the mac mini (ppc version) will beach ball a little too. However, when songs are played from the "guy singing" side, I get no skips

2. When viewing songs from the "guy singing" side, the list only shows some of the tracks in the folder... for example, I have one band's folder that has 14 plus albums in it, yet only about 15 songs show up as opposed to the 100+ tracks that should be available from that artist.

I'm running a Mac Mini PPC G4, 1.24GhZ, 1GB RAM

I'll post back if i find something else.

Thanks for a great application and keep up the excellent work!

ICEł will use about 150MB of RAM with a 3GB library, and about 170MB with a 20GB Library. However, as soon as you use coverflow, the RAM usage will jump to about 600MB and 3GB (1.5GB RAM + 1.5GB Swap File) respectively. If you are running out of memory, the only way to prevent this is don't use coverflow. Another issue that we are having with coverflow, is releasing layers (covers). The only way to release the memory is to quit ICEł.

Relax, it will happen.

I would also like to request a "Now Playing" screen with a timeline that you can tap to reposition the playback. I really like the Neon BoomBox Now Playing screen, it has the album cover, Song, Artist, Album, Track, timeline, volume and playback controls all on one convenient screen. Something like that would be great for ICE3.

We have a few other features to finish before we can start on a "Now Playing" screen, but I have an idea that should work.

WOW! I am truly blown away by this. You've done a really great job on this. Just upgraded to Leopard so I can finally try this out and boy am i glad i did. I see you have plans to implement the Wii Remote which i am really anticipating. It's basically all i use in the car since i broke my touchscreen glass. What do you have in store for it. As long as there are keyboard shortcuts Remote Buddy can be used to map the functions of ICE3. I really like being able to change the intro sound so it says welcome Matthew LOL.

Thanks. Keep up the great progress.

Thanks onepuff.
Keyboard, Wii remote and Apple remote are all on the drawing board for the next release.
Yes, ICEł will be able to work with Remote Buddy, however, my plans are for ICEł to be able to pair with the Wii remote also. (Good for those who don't need or own Remote Buddy).

Thanks again.

FM and XM are both on the drawing board. We will be asking the community for help/requests for this when we get to it.
