Question Any last requests?

With version 2 in the planning stage, we are open to all requests, features, suggestions etc.
Just post them here, and we will see what we can do.

I like the idea that when you start up the car that it continue to play the last song that you were listening to. However I would like it if the volume faded to the volume that you were last listening to the music at. So that it isnt a shock when you get in. I know that this happens with some stock radios (my wifes honda does it).

I also want like the standard things like GPS, OBDII, etc...you know like what the windows people have.

XM support would be great. Sirius would be a bonus, although I don't own a Sirius radio.

Sirius would be great, GPS almost a must.

Also an access to an Auxiliary port, if you will, where if you have an iPod/iPhone plugged into a USB port you can access music/movies/pictures on that.

Safari or Firefox would be cool as well. I tether my iPhone to my mac mini and use its 3G to get online (think: streaming radio, sports, etc.).

i know tis might sound cheesey but how about a welcome message after the unlock screen like "welcome" or "fasten safety belts" something verbal that could be changed?

I would love OBDII, and would really like to see how crazy you kids can get.....maybe an integrated boost gauge....ok, I'm just dreaming here.

(PS, there's a company that's creating a wireless OBDII device, http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/, interesting huh?)

ABSOLUTELY!!!
If it wasn't for dreams, ICEł wouldn't exist!
OBDII is on the list for version 3.

As a sideline project (that we have not started yet) will be writing software for aftermarket ecu's such as Wolf and Link, that will have real-time tuning, monitoring and the ability to drive electronic gauges (boost, water temp, engine temp, oil pressure etc).

Also any chance of resolution options? Some of us use 800x600 instead of 800x480. I'm probably in the minority tho.

I use 800 X 600. +1 for that!

how about custom shortcuts that will execute a user defined command. like a custom button that will execute a keyboard shortcut when pressed. (i.e. switch spaces to use GPS software that's in another space or OBDII software for that matter)

maybe you could open-source ICE3... If your not going to charge for it, you really have nothing to lose by going open-source. There are a lot of people that would love to contribute and help make ICE even better.

Unfortunately GPS is very low on our priority list right now.

Lol! You will be the first to know.

This resolution issue has been bugging me. Do your screens have a native/physical resolution of 800x600, or do you use this resolution due to OS issues i.e. other apps that are taller than 480 pixels?
I tried to use 800x600, but was unable to clearly read anything.
We are going to have resolution support, but just want to make sure that we are going to have a solution that works and more importantly looks good.

That is one of the reasons for the dashboard button. From the dashboard, I was able to use "killer app launcher" to load/switch apps.
Maybe we could change the dashboard button into a customizable app launcher.

What is more important: a button for quick access to the dashboard, or quick access to an app launcher.
Feedback Please!!!

Firstly, ICEł will only become open-source once we are either bored or finished with it.
Secondly, I believe that if people were willing to contribute to open-source projects, AMP would be the #1 Mac front end right now.
Sorry if that sounded blunt, it's just my opinion.

I totally agree with srbatty on the open source thing, also an app launcher would be awsome and would solve the gps issue perhaps some small button that stays on top of all applications so you can quickly and easile switch back? Or space 1 to space two? Jsut a thought

Has anyone tried "RapidoStart" in the car?
The only downside seems to be the size of the floating button. However, the button can be replaced by a keystroke which will make it perfect for other input devices like the wiimote.
