Why go with iguidance when you can go with Garmin Mobile pc and get traffic updates speed cam alerts and navteq maps, aswell as it being a Garmin. iguidance use to be the choice because it was the only usable choice for the pc, but 100 bucks when Garmin is selling theres for 60 bucks is a joke they better come down on the price. I have used Iguidance, Streets and Trips, Mappoint, Destinator, and finally Garmin Mobile pc which is buy far the best that I have used so far. So this news from Iguidance is of no importance. Every other gps software is catching up and passing Iguidance

3D view on garmins devices has always been a joke. Look too weird. Also, there is no OSK.
Everyone likes something different, and I agree iGuidance should reduce the price, but even at $100 I would still get the upgrade.

Like you said everyone has there own opinion and thats what I like about the forums, Me myself I like the garmins 3d view, I think i get real p***ed of when a company doesn't really care about there customer base Garmin has already realesed a update to resolve some of the bugs in the software osk your right they should have one But you can work around that I live in Montgomery county Md my county just started using speed cams a couple of months a go and the fact that Iguidance didn't put it in v4.0 was a real dissapointment, and I wont even get into the upgrade fight I hade with them aswell as the activation fight, it was like having a second job to deal with there software Garmin Mobile Pc is my choice. And in my opinion I feel that it cant touch Garmin.

I had iGuidance and had activation difficulties. iNav had no interest in helping me. Rather than assist me in working through the problems, they preferred to dump me as a customer. At least they refunded my purchase since I bought through their online store. I promptly ordered the Garmin Mobile PC and was very pleased with the easy installation and great software. If iGuidance still has the activation system from hell, there's no way I'd even consider it. Just my $.02

gamin mobile pc has definitely taken over interest and has a killer price for what it does. All i need it to do is embed and iguidance will be no more in my eyes.

You can get iG running on a PPC no problem... And no updates on a GPS program is not something radically different.
I dont know what happend on your trip, but I bet you didnt set the route preferences correctly.
And we just drove from Colorado, USA, to Mt. Rushmore SD,USA , to Huntsville, ON, CAN then from there to Toronto, ON, CAN to Niagra, ON, CAN and then back to Colorado.
Perfect routing. Only downside was the 3D view with the exits and the lanes which is coming in this next release, and the lexus had, so we used both software and it was invaluable on the QEW since it had been a while since we drove those.
For long hauls such as more than 100km in the US switching the routing to "Major" is useful since the interstates are 70 to 75 mph but in Canada where the limit is usually 100kph max and usually closer to 80, major makes no difference and "Quickest" is king.
But we got there in the same amount of time as it took us 10 years ago with our only US guide book and a highlighter going over the interstates.
i think you mis-read what i've said. i sad that the traffic pattern feature is an oem feature from navteq, and tts is the only advantage that iguidance may have over the others, however, the announcement did not mention if version 2009 will have tts, but it did mention new color for the bottons.
i'm glad you have good experience with iguidance routing. i did not. after the trip that iguidance screwed me up, i tried to enter several known destinations like friends and families homes, which are about 60-100 miles alway and from many different cities, it never gavee any ideal route. after seeing some other people complain about its routing engine on here, i got rid of it. if you search through the forum, there are many other who experience similar issues.
this time last year inav have already released iguidance 4.0, so many ppl would expect that they would release iguidance 5.0 around now. i guess they dont have anything so they announced a beta v1.0. btw, iguidance is a good realiable software but like any softwares, its not free from bugs. iguidance 4.0 never received any updates. people who will buy iguidance 2009 should not expect any updates from inav either.
btw, the future in GPS navigation is in smart phone and pda phones. i wonder how inav going to compete against nokia and tomtom since nokia owns navteq and tomtom owns teleatlas. btw, tomtom already have navigator 7 for windows mobile, and perhaps will have an iphone version of navigator too.
one last note, seeing that the last update on inavcorp.com was in 2007, i would not be buying inav stock anytime soon.

TTS is in v.4, why should they announce it as a new feature now?
> they announced a beta v1.0
No, they announced ETA for new version
> the future in GPS navigation is in smart phone and pda phones
What's the point of mp3car.com/vbulletin/gps? Let's close it then.
> i wonder how inav going to compete
Would you rather live in a world with only one product? Monopoly? Consumers with no choice? A product may not meet your requirements, but the same product may be just perfect for someone else.

I installed Garmin Mobile PC assuming it would be similar to the unit I have in my dad's car. Not even close. The lack of an OSK really killed it and now that iGuidance doesn't lag on my computer, Ive found its much better for my needs.
We have opinions as to why Garmin is better, I think iGuidance is better. This is why there are multiple products. I also found iGuidance much easier to interface with and embed into my own applications.

yea i hope that tts will be there in the 2009 version. i truly hope so since it is the only advantage iguidance is having over some other navigation softwares like delorme and map point.
i do truly hope that inav makes it, and i wish them no ill, thought, i wouldnt use their product since i had a bad experience with their product. i only merely pointing out that the future looks bleak for inav. i believe tomtom sold 20,000,000 PNA devices last year. phone companies like nokia, samsung, motorola, and htc sold over 100,000,000 gps enable phones and it will only be bigger in the coming years. my point is that the laptop navigation market isnt there.
btw, what/when is iguidance 2009 ETA? i missed that

"...official release ETA around 3rd or 4th week of July...", as inav posted here.

I would never rely on my phone as my primary GPS device... it murders my battery.
